Launched in 2022, the White Squirrel Artisans Market (WSAM) was created to shine a spotlight on hyperlocal makers, musicians, and small businesses—all while raising funds for local nonprofit organizations. In 2023, the event found its new home at the Porter C

enter at Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina. Founded and organized by Kyzandrha Zárate and proudly presented by Billy McCoy of REMAX Land of the Waterfalls, WSAM is more than just a market—it’s a movement. “My mission is to create an affordable, safe space for local artisans to showcase and sell their work,” says Zárate. “Through these events, we are building bridges of opportunity between artisans and their community.”

The market has become a vibrant space where residents and visitors alike can support local creativity and give back to meaningful causes. Since its inception, WSAM has raised approximately $9,000 for local nonprofits. Many artisans who got their start at the market have since grown into staple vendors in businesses throughout Brevard. With every event, WSAM continues to foster a stronger, more connected, and creatively enriched community.

Our WSAM Summer Festival vendors are officially securing their spots! We cannot wait to start revealing our featured artisans so you can plan your shopping experience with us on Saturday, August 8 from 12 PM to 5 PM at the Porter Center at Brevard College!

With each call to artisans, we receive more than 100 applications and thoughtfully curate the event down to around 65 artisans. It is always a difficult process because the level of talent in our region is incredible. We are deeply grateful to every artist and maker who applied.

This careful selection process allows us to create a balanced and exciting market experience by welcoming both returning WSAM favorites and talented new artisans, while ensuring a wide variety of creative mediums for our shoppers to enjoy.

Trust us when we say... you are going to want to see who made this lineup.
