A note from Mary Rianoshek, Co-Founder:

"Meg and I started this festival because Breckenridge wanted our help — but mostly because we thought it would be fun. And it was a blast.

Back then, we couldn't have imagined that 45 years later it would still be here, still thriving, and become such a central part of Meg's legacy.

Through every season we worked together, she was the definition of grace under fire. Calm. Composed. Steady. She had a gift for bringing people together — not by demanding it, but by making everyone feel like they belonged and had something worth giving.

Meg believed it takes a village. She lived that belief quietly and powerfully, every single year.

She was my steady presence, my partner in building something that mattered, and my "bestest" friend.

It is with a heavy heart that Breck Film shares the passing of our co-founder, Meg Lass. Meg played a special role in our community and at Breck Film.

Meg was the first to ask for your opinion, gather everyone's ideas, and share her own perspective last — even though she was almost always the smartest person in the room. That was just who she was: a mentor, a community organizer, and someone who was genuinely passionate about every single project she touched.

She had a way of making the hard things feel possible. Of looking at a challenge and somehow making you believe you had everything you needed to get through it. Her love for film, for this community, and for the people in it will echo through this festival for a long time.

She always said it was an honor to work with us. Well, Meg — the honor was entirely ours.

We're kicking off the Party Like It's 1876 weekend the only way we know how with a free movie trivia night!

Join us on Tuesday, May 27 at 7pm upstairs at Fatty's Pizzeria for a night of film knowledge, friendly competition, and great prizes. This one's Colorado-themed, so start rewatching your favorites! Teams of up to 6. Entry is totally free. Bragging rights? Priceless.

If you missed last year's Film Fest don't worry we have another incredible long weekend in the mountains.

The 2026 festival runs September 17–20 in the heart of Breckenridge, and if last year was any indication, you'll want to clear your schedule early. We will have a packed lineup of screenings, filmmaker meet-and-greets, and a genuine sense of mountain community all with that perfect Colorado autumn backdrop.

What an unforgettable night here at the Eclipse Theater we had this week! 🎬✨

Early this week we hosted a special screening of BACKSIDE and wow, did our Breckenridge community show up. Together, we donated over $500 to Mountain Dreamers .mountain.dreamers

The evening was more than just a film. We were honored to welcome the director for a post-screening Q&A and a bilingual cinematography workshop that brought together English and Spanish speakers in one room. Moments like that are exactly why we do what we do.
