Teen Summer Camp: Weekend Workshop Gelli Plate Printing
Aug 1 + 2, 9am - 1pm

This offering for students ages 12-18, focuses on Gelli printing. Students will use gelli plates made of flexible squares of clear plastic, to ink and then print from. This process includes transferring printed imagery onto these inked plates to produce subtle imagery. On the second day we'll use textured materials such as leaves, tea bags and fabric to produce beautifully layered monotypes. Students will come away with a collection of unique prints.

Tween + Teen Summer Camp: Board Games!
July 20 - 24, 9am-noon

This offering will introduce students to a variety of board games including: dice games, card games, worker placement games, and tile placement games. We'll explore the rules of each game and different styles of play. Then students will have the choice to make a game that emulates a style of play, or they can invent an original game that highlights their own rules and regulations. The emphasis will always be on creating original works of art, through drawing and painting game boards, as well as making dice and game pieces out of clay and found objects. Finally we will make a game box to store all of your artwork and game pieces.

For ages 9 - 16

Tween + Teen Summer Camp: Illuminated Trash!
July 13 - 17, 1-4pm

This offering invites students to explore multiple ways of reusing items that are destined for the trash or recycling bin! Projects include:
Bookbinding: making sketchbooks using old discarded hardback books.
Making Paints: we will create our own handmade watercolors using tiny scraps of soft pastels, and we'll explore clever uses for small bits of fabric.
We'll also work together on a collaborative Installation, a work of art that will be permanently installed at our local transfer station of Ferry Road.

For ages 9 - 16

Teen Summer Camp: Weekend Workshop Relief Printing with Upcycled Clothing
June 25 + 26, 9am - 1pm

In this offering for students ages 12-18, we will dive into printmaking. Students will carve relief plates and print them onto upcycled clothing. They can bring in t-shirts, sweatshirts, bags or jackets to print on; as well as make patches that they can sew or pin onto clothing. Each student will print on several articles of clothing and make a small edition of original prints that can be used as cards, gifts or be framed as beautiful artwork!

Join us the next First Friday on July 3rd from 5 - 8 pm for the exhibition opening:
Robert George – A Shared History

Our mutual love of town, its children and streets, its painters and builders; its small monuments and shifting light, its moments of rest and labor run through Robert F George photographs. He draws us in from the margins, toward places and faces we might otherwise overlook. His camera moves from curbside to canopy, delighting in unexpected compositions and offering quiet meditations on passing seasons.

For those connected to River Gallery School, Bob has been a steady presence. While artists turn inward to their work, he attends to the wider world, reminding us of the community that sustains us.

His images suggest that every artwork, whether still life or landscape, holds the qualities of a portrait. Together, his photographs and the life of RGS form a living record of place and time.

Bob is generously donating all proceeds to support River Gallery School’s 50th anniversary fundraising efforts. His work reminds us to look carefully, to notice one another, and to honor the quiet exchanges that shape our shared history.

The exhibition will run until August 31, 2026.
