Angelo De Augustine returns with Angel in Plainclothes, his fifth album and most inspired work yet—a deeply felt rendering of his multi-year journey of healing and renewal. The record showcases De Augustine's powerful melodies and poignant lyrics across tracks like the haunting elegy "Empty Shell," the hopeful "Spirit of the Unknown," and standout psychedelic country piece "Mirror Mirror." Themes explore life's fragility, second chances, and picking up the pieces after an undiagnosed illness forced him to re-learn basic abilities: "I'm trying to figure out who I am now," De Augustine says. "I feel like I may have been given a second chance at life, and I'd like to live it."

Written, recorded, arranged, produced, and mixed by the artist at his recording studio A Secret Place in Southern California, the album marks his first time welcoming collaborators in years, including string arranger Oliver Hill (Kevin Morby, Helado Negro), harpist Leng Bian, background vocalist/percussionist Wendy Fraser, as well as Thomas Bartlett (who produced De Augustine’s Tomb, St. Vincent, Bebel Gilberto) and Jonathan Wilson (Angel Olsen, Father John Misty), who played drums on and co-produced "The Cure." The result is a powerful statement of hope: "One of the most helpful things that kept me going was the people in my life telling me that everything was ultimately going to be okay. I hope these songs end up having the same kind of effect on people out in the world, and help them know that miracles are possible.”

Angel in Plainclothes is out April 24th via Asthmatic Kitty Records.

✨ NEXT WEEK ✨ A very special show at Stone Church featuring some of the music industry's absolute powerhouses.

At 19, Lenny White played with Jackie McLean, recorded Bi***es Brew with Miles Davis, and Red Clay with Freddie Hubbard. Lenny is one of the founding fathers of the jazz-rock movement and is a four-time Grammy Award winner. Lenny White earned a worldwide reputation as the drummer with Return to Forever and has played and collaborated with artists such as Joe Henderson, Gato Barbieri Gil Evans, Stan Getz, Jaco Pastorius, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Carlos Santana, and Chaka Khan. Lenny continues to lead and stay on the cutting edge of music by producing new artists and performing. Lenny is currently mentoring and teaching students at NYU Steinhardt and The New School.

RACHEL Z, keyboardist, synthesist. Grammy-winning, Grammy-nominated with a long history of award-winning performances in the worlds of jazz and rock. Rachel has released 13 albums as bandleader and been a crucial part of countless tours and recordings including Steps Ahead, Vertú, the Omar Hakim Experience, OZmosys, Wayne Shorter, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, Terri Lyne Carrington, Al Di Meola, and Regina Carter. Her years of touring with Peter Gabriel include appearances in his live films Growing Up Live & Still Growing Up Live. She is Professor of Jazz, Contemporary Music Studies and Electronic Music, variously at New School University NYC, Montclair State University and Cali School of the Arts.

The Rock N’ Roll Collective is a powerhouse group of exceptionally talented young musicians between the ages of 13 and 18. Designed for students who have outgrown traditional music education programs like School of Rock, the Collective offers a professional-level environment where emerging artists can develop their craft and gain real-world performance experience.

Founded by veteran audio engineer and producer Jeremy Gerard, the Collective is music-directed by renowned industry professionals Rachel Z Hakim, Omar Hakim, Mike Pellegrino, and Ben Moyer. Collective members have performed on tour across the US & Europe. In 2025, Collective members completed US & European tours with Frank Zappa alumni and embarked on a separate European tour with Gibby Haynes of the Bu****le Surfers.

Featuring a blend of acoustic instruments, rural soundscapes, and wistful vocals, Great Lake Swimmers are a critically acclaimed indie-folk group led by Tony Dekker. Based in Southern Ontario, the group emerged in the early 2000s with a succession of heavily atmospheric albums recorded in old silos and rural country churches. The music developed in that pastoral warmth, performed and recorded in acoustically resonant and historical locales with a revolving cast of personnel. They are renowned for homespun folk and lush, intimate Americana in their live shows.
Their newest album, Caught Light, released in October 2025, is their most immediate and instinctive album to date. Recorded in just five days in Ontario’s Ganaraska Forest with producer Darcy Yates (Bahamas) and engineer Jimmy Bowskill (Blue Rodeo), it draws warmth from early ’70s folk-pop while embracing a new spontaneity and directness in Dekker’s songwriting.

Great Lake Swimmers have been shortlisted for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize and nominated twice for Canada’s Juno Awards, with the CBC calling them “a national treasure.”

The Barr Brothers are a group out of Montreal fronted by the poly-rhythmic, jocular drumming of Andrew Barr and the songs and guitar playing of brother Brad Barr. Bass, pedal steel, keyboards, and horns come in and out of the mix freely. Equally at home in solemn Arcadian ballads, swampy North African improvs, or classic rock and roll revelry, The Barr Brothers continue to embrace and enchant audiences with their methodical-yet-whimsical approach to music making.
