We're bringing back an alumni tradition: Unrehearsed Shakespeare!

I'm sure many of you remember that for 6 years in a row, a group of alums would get together the first weekend of January to do a Shakespeare play in one day. It was always an incredible amount of fun and a great way for alums to get to know each other and work together without making a huge time commitment. It's been 10 years since we last did this, and I think it's high time we brought the tradition back!

We're going back to our roots for this re-start with an NEYT classic, A Midsummer Night's Dream, which I will be directing.

How it works: at the beginning of December you will be sent your "scroll." This will be just your lines and your last bit of your cue line. You will be responsible for memorizing these. We will gather on the evening of Friday, January 2nd for a read-through. On Saturday, January 3rd we will meet at NEYT in the morning to put the show together, and we'll perform it that evening!

If you are interested in participating please fill out this form as soon as possible.

The deadline for signing up is November 14th. Limited roles available. Click the link below to sign up!

Ben Stockman is an alumnus of the inaugural NEYT class. He is currently a Brooklyn-based theatre director, with an MFA in directing from Ohio University. Ben began his directing career at the tender age of 14 when founder Stephen Stearns handed him the script to Carlo Goldoni's Servant of Two Masters and the keys to the space one summer. Ben's directorial work at NEYT includes: The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr (abridged); Harvey; Cyrano de Bergerac; multiple iterations of Unrehearsed Shakespeare; and countless summer programs and melodrama camps. Currently, as a director Ben gravitates towards surreal and irreverent comedy. He is especially passionate about developing comedic new work with playwright friends. But he is always looking for obscure, under-the-radar, dark horse comedies from the past few centuries as well. You can find Ben at benstockman.weebly.com.

Our next Featured Alum: Colin Hinckley! (2010)

Colin is currently in an Off Broadway show entering it's second week. If you are in NYC make sure to check it out!

Colin has been acting in New York for the past four years, where he has worked on many Off and Off-Off Broadway shows. He also worked on several award winning short films, including Stationary, for which he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Short Film Awards. He plays Carl in the web series Brains, and is in post production for Buy In, a short psychological horror film he co-wrote, produced, and starred in. He just finished a year long acting apprenticeship at the prestigious Off Broadway theater, the Barrow Group, where he studied with Seth Barrish and Lee Brock. Currently, Colin is in the Off Broadway immersive show, Through the Wren, where he plays Damian Galloway. The show follows in the tradition of Sleep No More by having audience members follow the actors through the venue, which has been renovated to look like a mid-century English manor. Tickets are limited, but an extended run may be forthcoming. More info athttps://www.wildrence.com/events/through-the-wren
