This Tuesday 8/3 Koblavi Dogah from Ghana continues teaching a series of weekly dance classes sponsored by the Brattleboro School of Dance! They will take place each Tuesday from 6:30 - 8pm through to August 17th at 17 Elliot St. 3rd floor (formerly Headroom Stages) in Brattleboro, VT. This week is the fourth in the series but you can join any of the weeks that you would like to.
The class will cover traditional and contemporary West African musical concepts through movement and dance, along with live percussion by Derrik Jordan. The class is energetic and inclusive, for all levels of interest and experience! Come join!
The suggested donation is $15 or whatever you can pay.
The space is air-conditioned.
Masks are optional but there will be both unvaccinated and vaccinated people present.
Dogah is a percussionist /dancer born in the southern region of Ghana, West Africa. He started learning Ewe dance and drumming when he was 5yesrs old. By the age of 12, Dogah was teaching drum and dance workshops/private lessons at local schools. With his passion to perform and learn West African music more deeply, he toured in Ghana and neighboring countries. Koblavi Attended Berklee college of music and received his bachelor of music with a focus in Education. He received the first full-ride scholarship through the African Scholars Program. He has taught workshops and performed at various schools such as Berklee College of Music, St. Michaels College in Vermont, and led workshops for elementary and secondary schools festivals and camps. Creating a positive learning environment for his students is Dogah’s first priority.
