🌿 Who can tell us about the history of Sweetwater Farm in Hayesville, NC? 🌿

We absolutely love Taylor Ledford and her family, along with all the wonderful things they do for our community! ❤️ Taylor owns and operates Sweetwater Farm, runs the Murphy Farmers Market, and makes delicious homemade bread, jams, and jellies. 🍞🍓🍯

Today, though, we’re curious about the history of the farm itself. What was Sweetwater Farm like in years past?

Are there old stories, family histories, or special memories connected to the land? I remember seeing an old photo of the farm with teepees in it!

Johnny says the property was once called London Saddle Shop and featured a bison, a leather shop, and teepees.

We are so honored and grateful for this wonderful newspaper article! Thank you to everyone who has helped preserve our community’s rich history and to the Scroggs family for sharing these meaningful stories and memories across generations.

Brasstown is more than a place — it’s a community built on family and tradition. We feel blessed to be a part of keeping its history alive and sharing it with future generations.

🌻 A Little Love for Barn Quilts! 🎨

One of the things I absolutely love about our mountain communities is the folk art and colorful pieces of history that make each place special. ❤️

I spotted this beautiful barn quilt at the Moss Memorial Library in Hayesville, NC, and I just had to stop and admire it! I love the colors, the pattern, and the way these quilts bring a little extra character and Appalachian charm to our community.

I believe this one was created by Historic Hayesville, Inc., and it has me wanting to get out and explore!
I’m going to start taking pictures of the different barn quilts around Hayesville and sharing them here, so we can appreciate the artwork, the stories, and the people who help keep this tradition alive.
