Peacock has given a straight-to-series order to a show based on Matt Dinnaman’s popular Dungeon Crawler Carl books.

The live-action series comes from Universal Global Television and Seth MacFarlane‘s Fuzzy Door company. UGT’s predecessor, Universal International Studios, and Fuzzy Door acquired rights to Dinnaman’s books in 2024. Chris Yost (Maul: Shadow Lord, Thor: Ragnarok) is set to write and executive produce the series.

“I’m happy to announce that our friends at Peacock have *officially* greenlit the Dungeon Crawler Carl television series!,” Dinnaman wrote on Instagram. “Me, Chris Yost and Seth MacFarlane and his team at Fuzzy Door are all really excited to get to work.” Dinnaman also noted that he and Yost are scheduled to lead a Dungeon Crawler Carl panel at Comic-Con in July.

Peter Serafinowicz said George Lucas told him that he was the “new James Earl Jones” after being cast as the voice of Darth Maul in 1999’s “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.”

Actor Ray Park physically played the Sith villain, but it was Serafinowicz who contributed his voice to the part in both “Phantom Menace” and “Solo: A Star Wars Story.”

“It was weird. This character Darth Maul… I don’t know what I thought,” Serafinowicz said on a recent episode of the “Classic Clown” podcast. “The design of it… I wasn’t that into it. When I saw the film it was the biggest disappointment of my life at that point. It really was. I mean, have you seen it? It was so exciting that even being in it .. doing this thing, what I thought would be this iconic thing. Just unimaginable.. I guess it sort of is [iconic]. I suppose.”

“James Earl Jones has got the best voice of any human ever, right?” Serafinowicz continued. “Then, suddenly there I was with George Lucas, and he was like saying, ‘Well, Peter, you’re the new James Earl Jones,’ and I was like, ‘F**king hell, am I? Then why are you paying me such s**t money, George?”

Serafinowicz was replaced as the voice of Darth Maul by Sam Witwer during the animated “Star Wars” series “The Clone Wars.” Witwer also returned to the role for the Disney+ series “Maul – Shadow Lord.”

First reactions for are praising leading star Milly Alcock and the movie for shifting James Gunn’s DC world into “Mad Max” territory:

“It isn’t a classic but it’s fun and hits most of the targets it aims for. Milly Alcock is great as the titular heroine and Momoa’s Lobo is a blast. Other big wins are the action, humor and when it leans into physical production.”

Another journalist said the movie “looks and plays more like a ‘Mad Max’ movie, with dirty worlds, gross villains and a self destructive hero."

Mike Myers has confirmed a fourth Austin Powers film is coming!

Myers made the revelation during his guest appearance on Tuesday’s Trevor Noah’s World Cup Watch Party.

When asked by Noah if there would be another Austin Powers, Myers simply replied, “Yes.”

Myers made his film debut as Powers in 1997’s Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, returned the role in 1999 for The Spy Who Shagged Me and concluded his trilogy in 2002 with Goldmember.
