There’s something special about watching purpose grow in your children.
This reel captures a moment that means a lot to our family. .onuoha started teaching our daughter the drums when she was just 3 years old. He never treated music as something that had “lanes” for boys or girls. He simply nurtured the gift of music he saw in her.
Now, years later, we often get to lead worship together as a family. Our daughter on the drums, Tobe on the keys and singing, and what began as a small moment of training has grown into something that serves others.
In honor of Women’s History Month, I’m celebrating this young female drummer who wasn’t told to stay in a box, but instead was encouraged to explore the gifts God placed in her. She sings, drums, mimes, plays the keys and plays sports. And I’m grateful for a dad who believed in her enough to train her, guide her, and make space for her to grow in every area that she's gifted.
Generational training matters. What we sow into our children today often becomes the very thing God uses tomorrow.
So proud of this girl who's turning 12 this week and thankful we get to worship together. 🥁🎶
P.S. She often makes faces as we try to record her operating in her gifts because she hates the attention! Pray with us that she'll let her light shine on any stage God puts her on.
