It is with a heavy heart that we announce to the OVT/BARN OPERA family that we have lost one of our own. Prior Brandon Town Manager and previous President of the Board of Directors of BARN OPERA, David Atherton, unfortunately passed away in his sleep two nights ago. He was instrumental in helping us navigate the State’s bureaucracy, and in establishing this current chapter of partner venue relationships and statewide outreach. While he left our board last year, his impact is still felt. Thank you for everything, Dave, and we send our heartfelt condolences to his wife Heather, and their children Benjamin and Elizabeth. To all who knew and loved him, may his memory be a blessing that lives on in his work and passion for our community.

While we are announcing our 2025 season TOMORROW, we wanted to make sure to remind you of 2 concerts happening next week!

August 21 @ 7:30 - Beppe Gambetta, the incredible flatpicking bluegrass guitarist, will be playing a concert at the BARN OPERA House in advance of his new album’s release!

August 24 @ 7:30 - David Feurzeig will be performing his piano concert “PLAY EVERY TOWN” at the BARN. He will be joined by Grammy-award winning composer Eve Beglarian, and operatic tenor (and Artistic Director of Opera Vermont/BARN OPERA) Joshua Collier. This concert is a benefit for ACORN so there is no specific ticket price (Suggested: $20), but to reserve specific seats, please visit the website for the BARN OPERA.

Vermont-based pianist, David Feurzeig, had an ambitious idea over the pandemic to perform a concert in every town in the state of Vermont within 5 years. He has chosen the BARN to represent the town of Brandon, and partners with other Brandonites (Grammy award-winning composer and artist Eve Beglarian, and Internationally recognized operatic tenor and Opera Vermont’s artistic director, Joshua Collier) to present an evening of beautiful music in support of a Vermont-based, climate and justice-centric non-profit organization. Tickets are by reservation at www.barnopera.com/tickets for $5, but we encourage donations at the door or online at the ticket site to both VPIRG and BARN OPERA.

Beppe Gambetta, one of the world’s best flat-picking guitarists comes to the BARN for a one night only show. The Genoan artists draws upon the virtuosity that his mentors, well known guitarists Doc Watson and Tony Rice inspired, but brings a decidedly personal and engaging performance of music ranging from heart-felt ballad, to lightning-fast virtuosity. Never without his signature red shoes, Beppe Gambetta performs in the BARN for the first time, after being in the space on the day that renovations began! This performance is full-circle for us at BARN OPERA, but also introduces his new album: Terra Madre.
