Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project

Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project We present three productions each year that feature the talents of the Suncoast’s greatest entertainers.

The mission of Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project is to raise awareness, provide assistance, and perpetuate a life of dignity for those affected and infected by HIV and AIDS. Popular cabarets/concerts in the fall, readings of LGBTQ dramas on World AIDS Day and a Pride parody every summer are just a few of the shows presented by SATP in conjunction with MattocS Productions. SATP has raised thousands of

dollars over the years for Metro Inclusive Health, Broadway Cares, The Trevor Project, The Names Project and many more. SATP was founded by beloved theatre worker and activist Garry Allan Breul. Garry passed away in the summer of 2017, but his legacy of giving lives on in an affirmation of a great man that spent many years on the frontlines of the early years of the AIDS crisis.

Join Jobsite Theater for a special PRIDE event on October 3rd!

On Sunday, October 3rd, Jobsite Theater will host a special performance of Dr. Ride’s American Beach House.

Join us in the lobby of the beautiful Jaeb Theater before the 4:00 curtain for a meet and greet and to learn more about the amazing work being done by the LGBTQ+ organizations across Tampa Bay. Drinks and food will be there, too (this is, of course, subject to any Covid protocol changes).

Then enter the theater to experience Liza Birkenmeier’s luminous new play, Dr. Ride’s American Beach House:

It’s 1983 – the evening before Dr. Sally Ride’s historic space flight. A group of women friends gather on a sweltering St. Louis rooftop, each caught in their own failure-to-launch. This enticing juxtaposition thrusts the women into the space of their uncharted desires where they bump against American norms of s*x and power in this intimate snapshot of q***r anti-heroines.

Boasting a cast of the area’s finest actors (Leah LoSchiavo, Emily Belvo, Susan Haldeman and Andresia Moseley) and directed by Roxanne Fay, the show celebrates the struggle, growth and final take off of lives lived in truth.

After the show, join the cast and director for a talkback- your voice is important to us!

Use the special code PRIDE2021 when ordering your tickets for a 20% discount!
We look forward to seeing you at the theater on October 3rd.

On World AIDS Day, we commemorate the many lives we lost to HIV/AIDS. We also take the time to remember the ones who stood on the front lines and faced the disease when the virus first appeared in the early 80's. SATP's founder, Garry Allan Breul made advocating for and fighting for the rights of people affected by HIV/AIDS his life's work.

His steadfast commitment to awareness is still being felt today. Thank you, Garry.
