I recently attempted to draw some Pokémanz from memory. I gotta say, missing Charizard’s blue green wings was a reasonable oversight, then giving Venusaur Ivysaur and forgetting he had ears is on me, but what kind of nonsense is Squirtle going from a pretty simple no-ear turtle guy, to having crazy angle wing ears for some reason, then Blastoise devolving to somewhere in between with some regular mammal ears? Otherwise I thought I got pretty close.

I was so glad I made it to last night to see some old friends and meet some new ones, while listening to great music. Here are some of my digital phone doodles from the evening. My apologies to those I didn’t get to.

This really helps me in that type of social shindig to ground me and also make for a great icebreaker in talking to each of them afterwards. I’m grateful for the positive reactions and nice conversations that followed.

I was honored to work on this portrait for of (Rangsook Yoon-Shaw) the newly appointed senior curator at .

It was an especially fun opportunity to play with colors and patterns to depict someone so passionate about showcasing the power and limitless possibilities of art in Sarasota.

It was also special to include the historic building the museum is in, which was the original location of Sarasota High School, as my grandmother went to school there and I grew up admiring it. I also paid homage to my alma mater , as it is a parent of the museum, by reflecting it’s logo in the layout.

Despite my art-making and posting slump I’ve still been trying to fight my way out of, I have appreciated for coming to me with projects that help remind me that I can still get back on the bike. So, I was particularly excited when they approached me to do a portrait of .kin, the Executive Director of , a local organization and event that showcases the amazing arts in our area.

Hello old friends, I gotta say, the hard part about stepping back from social media is getting back into the swing of it. So, to prove that I’ve here are a couple of portraits I worked on for a few months back that I was pretty happy with, to prove that I’ve still been arting. In case anyone was wondering why I have been somewhat absent from social media for the past few months, here is one of the big undertakings that took up a lot of my attention.

This mixed media collage titled: Tree of Harmony was made in collaboration by the students I work with across the entire K-12 Academy. We submitted it into the annual international inclusion and diversity showcase competition, and we were honored to be among the 50 artworks selected out of 16,604 total entries from 125 countries. Now that the show is on display, it’s incredibly powerful to see our piece blown up along side all the other beautiful artworks and quotes that share such important messages.

I am immensely proud of all my students for all their hard work, thoughtfulness, creativity, and camaraderie put into this and everything else they do. It’s those qualities, demonstrated by all those amazing individuals, that I wished to share with the world in this piece.

Though we all may come from separate branches, we all share the same tree. In our Tree of Harmony mixed media collaborative collage, all levels of our K-12 academy participated in the process and demonstrated their ability to work with one another, just like our animals. We found that, even though we may differ in several ways, we all have our own special gifts to offer, and we’re even stronger when we support each other and work together.

We had a killer time on our last Curious Creations Twitch stream, where and I were joined by the amazing ! We took on the challenge of depicting our interpretation of Alec’s description of a Star Lancer from D&D, without looking at it, and I love the different directions we took them.

I decided to rename mine a Blood Skipper and I was saying it looks like one of the swarming minions of Ronin’s terrifying boss shark.

S.A.M. & Hank are a time-traveling bounty hunter duo that and I conceptualized around 15 years ago for a comic that never came to be. However, the best ideas find there way to bubble to the top eventually, so, expect to see them featured in Alec’s setting agnostic TTRPG system Spliced, expected to come to Kickstarter.

Say hi to Barbarian Barbie that and I started on our last Curious Creations. We drew inspiration for the concept from , other amazing fan art, as well all the animated Barbie movies that have played in my household in preparation for the new movie. It seemed fitting that we couldn’t limit Barbie to one D&D class to capture her spirit though. I also knew I could not slack on the accessories, which I’m pretty proud of. Anyway, remember, “what makes you different just might be your greatest strength”, that and friendship of course.

On last week’s Curious Creations and I were joined by where we took a stab at our takes on Wolverine and Deadpool. We discussed how we’d make them in D&D, and went with a Shifter Samurai Fighter for Wolverine, but there was much debate over how to capture the chaos of Deadpool. However, we came to the idea that he’d actually be a Pathfinder character in a D&D game, which really opened up the customization options to channel his wackiness.
