Fear you sit here next to me
My feet dangling in the mountain lake
Deep turquoise and green you soothe me
Making me momentarily free
My hands run along this weathered log I use as a seat
The stories she could tell
Each grain of wood perfectly created
Each ring a celebration of her growth
My heart remains heavy even amongst all this beauty
even around all these examples of strength and growth
Rugged mountains, alpine meadows, chirping marmots you give me calm
Shining sun you give me love
Open spaces you give me room
Room to be afraid, to cry, to let my anxiety be
I sit here and let all the emotions out
No good to stuff them down
My tears mix with the lake
She whispers to me
It will be tough, it will be hard
You’ll have to pull deep and ride out the bad
But you’ll be ok
You’ll smile and not feel sick
You’ll be back to visit this spot soon enough
To sit peacefully among the shores
Fear will be long gone
I’m always here for you, waiting
