🎪 Cirque406’s Tinworks residency begins with Circus on the Edge, a short film screening and conversation at the Rialto this Thursday, 7–9pm. Students attend for free!

⛏️ Act I of 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙡 & 𝙍𝙖𝙯𝙤𝙧 is still on view Thursday through Sunday, 10am–6pm at 719 N Ida.

🎶 Our second annual Poetry & Songwriting Slam will feature Bozeman’s incredible talents Friday, September 25, 7–10pm. Calling on our community of poets and songwriters to submit your work by September 15!

Montana artists, this one’s for you. 🏔️ Join us for an info session this Sunday, August 30, from 3–6pm at Tinworks Art to learn more about our newly established Beyond the Mountains Fund. If you’re interested but can’t join this time, we have two more info sessions on the calendar:

September 14, 6-9pm MT (online)
September 20, 6:30-9:30pm (in-person, Tinworks)

The Beyond the Mountains Fund is a grant program in partnership with the Andy Warhol Foundation offering up to $10,000 to support bold, public-facing creative work across Montana. Applications are open now through October 1. Learn more at the link in our bio.

Tinworks is in The New York Times! 📰 Local writer and photographer Janie Osborne named us a “key spot” in her new feature, “26 HOURS: Bozeman, Mont.”

Janie writes: “Established in 2019, and named after the repurposed tin manufacturing warehouse at its center, Tinworks Art features art of the American West, including works by Indigenous artists. Pieces like ‘I don’t trust nobody but the land,’ a lightbox sculpture by the artist and poet Layli Long Soldier, a member of the Oglala Lakota nation, speak to urban development in the West — and resonate in Bozeman, with its growing population and changing landscape.”

It’s an honor to be included alongside some of our own favorite Bozeman small businesses and institutions.

A walk through 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘭 & 𝘙𝘢𝘻𝘰𝘳, 𝘈𝘤𝘵 𝘐: the first in a two-part exhibition that unites the stories of Mary Edmonia Lewis, the first internationally acclaimed Black and Anishinaabe sculptor, and that of her brother, Samuel W. Lewis—a Bozeman-based performer, entrepreneur, and community leader who was central to Edmonia’s success.

In the Tinworks Warehouse space, artists including Terry Adkins, Sonya Clark, Maud Sulter, Edgar Arceneaux, and Nate Young, explore how the stories we tell about the past shape present realities.

𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘭 & 𝘙𝘢𝘻𝘰𝘳, 𝘈𝘤𝘵 𝘐 continues through October 25, 2026. Chisel & Razor, Act II will be presented from October 11, 2026–April 4, 2027.

Are you a poet or singer with something to share? Submit your work for our second annual Poetry and Songwriting Slam, in collaboration with Bozeman Poetry Collective and singer-songwriter Dane Andrew Thompsen.

The judges are looking for passion, originality, confidence, and charisma. Five poets and five songwriters will be selected for competition in 3 rounds of performances taking place at Tinworks Friday, September 25.

JOIN US 🎶 On Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22, join us for Roots in the Sky at Tinworks. Montana’s premier chamber choir and Tinworks Art join forces to present 𝘉𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘮 (𝘙𝘦)𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘥, a concert exploring land ownership, resource extraction, and climate upheaval, featuring the regional premiere of Nicholas Cline’s 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘦𝘢 𝘊𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘜𝘱 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘦𝘥 and three pieces written as part of their 2026 Choral Composition Program.

This performance will feature composer fellows Courage Barda, Matthew Tirona, and Shane Scott Cook.

On Sunday, August 23, at 3 pm, join artist and musician Marla Goodman at Tinworks for 𝘿𝙧𝙖𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙: 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙧𝙩, a workshop built around one of the world’s rarest electronic instruments, the Theremin.

Played by making precise hand gestures in the air, without ever actually touching anything, the Theremin lets Goodman illustrate the connection between lines drawn on paper and sounds “drawn” in the air. Participants will create their own visual soundscape collages, take turns playing the Theremin, and experiment with the Virtual ANS Synthesizer, which turns drawings into sound. No musical or art experience is required.

Following the workshop, the public is free and welcome to enjoy a performance by Marla and the workshop attendees.

Presented as part of our monthly screenings of films connected to the themes of 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘭 & 𝘙𝘢𝘻𝘰𝘳: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘓𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘥𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘢 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘢𝘮𝘶𝘦𝘭 𝘓𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘴. Popcorn available for donations. Free, open to everyone, no registration needed.
