📷🖨️🖼️ Steps for proofing photos for print:
1. Soft proof: use paper emulation (ICC profiles) to emulate the look/behavior of paper to get an edit close.
2. Hard proof multiple images on a contact sheet to maximize physical paper. I usually make more adjustments to the edit once I see how it actually prints.
3. Larger scale hard proofing with just one image. Some things stand out more once they’re enlarged.

Different photo paper has different characteristics so it’s important to find what works best for each paper!

📷🌌 Turns out astrophotography is my specialty. It started with taking pictures of stars with my phone. Then I got a mirrorless camera. Then I got a star tracker. Then I got a better camera… and I’m just getting started!

🖼️🖨️ Printing fine art photography is an art form itself. From paper selection to editing, from mat selection to mounting, each step requires care and attention to detail. It’s taken me a few months to dial it all in.

🖨️ 🖼️ There’s something magical about holding a photo in your hand that you took. The story of the image comes alive when you can feel it in your hands. Scrolling on screens has transformed the experience of art, but maybe printed media will make a comeback? The good news is that I’m going to be offering prints soon!

I’m re-editing a bunch of Milky Way Astro images from earlier this year. I’ve learned a LOT to improve my edit workflow on these. Thankfully I got great images in the field since this composition was incredibly difficult to get.
