Our Story
Stanford Slutsky (1941 Pittsburgh, Pa.) American Artist and Sculptor.
Walking into the home/gallery/studio of Stanford Slutsky is like walking into W***y Wonka's chocolate factory, the giant-sized hyper-realistic art on the walls looks good enough to eat. What looks like luscious chocolates is actually made of resins, plaster of Paris, rigid foam, adhesives, glitter, his imagination and much more. Slutsky learned how to create these magical masterpieces by a higher power, the art god. This self-taught 78-year-old artist is a full time working artist most of his life. Even in high school, he was winning awards for his artwork. At that time, it was for jewelry making.
Today Slutsky is creating art from food. It is a flashback to his days of driving a Good Humor truck in the summer 1957. It was a throwback to good feelings, the memories of childhood. He wanted to create art that made someone smile and have that sense of nostalgia.
He accomplished this with his art that looked like chocolate bars, chocolates, ice cream bars, pops, doughnuts, pizza, hamburgers, French fries, sushi and more. His latest piece is called “My Favorite Licorice.” He creates these artworks in his studio, which happens to be in his perfectly organized garage.
