Daycen and Harlee ranch in north central South Dakota but chose an intrastate destination wedding at the always-immaculate Barn at Aspen Acres.

We love being a part of destination weddings, regardless of how far away it is. We know it can be scary jumping into a bunch of unknowns for your big day for a destination wedding.

Be sure to ask your venue for their preferred vendor list. That list will have vendors that your venue has worked with regularly and knows you can trust with your day. We’re proud to be a preferred vendor of Aspen Acres!

Angel + Lindsey

They were in the early stages of their relationship when Angel was deployed overseas for six months.

Despite being halfway around the world, they committed to each other and their relationship, and when Angel returned home, they blossomed.

Angel and Lindsey proved that not even oceans can separate them.

1,196 days ago, we made the trip north to Bowman, ND, for Lindsey’s brother’s wedding. (It was so good to see you again, Andrew and Brooke!)

We made enough of an impression that not only did they invite us back, they chose to come to us this time, and were blessed with a picture-perfect late September day.

Thank you for trusting us with your day, Angel and Lindsey! And thank you for your service, Angel!

P.S. - We’d love to extend a personal thanks and congratulations to Dave and Cara, owners of the Woodlands. They’ve been wonderful partners over the years and will be selling the venue this offseason to enjoy retirement. All the best, Dave and Cara!

A decade ago Taylor was tearing up the dance floor as we DJ’d her aunts wedding at Besslers. Now Taylor and the entire family gets to be “Here for the Party,” and have another memorable night!

Caden + Reina

She called it “silent flirting.”

After seeing each other at the gym one morning, Reina shot her shot…kind of.

She planned her trips to the gym around his schedule. She then figured out what vehicle Caden drove and parked directly next to him for two weeks. It took a couple of days, but Caden soon realized it wasn’t an accident.

After a couple of weeks, he finally approached her and said “If you keep parking next to me, you know I’ll have to talk to you at some point, right?”

Mission accomplished.

Nick + Serene

Nick and Serene assembled an all-star team for their wedding day: the always spectacular Sylvan Lake exquisitely decorated by Justin Straw Designs, photos by Sandra Nichols, and logistics coordination by Maya from houseofnorn.

They wanted their wedding day to be a celebration of their indigenous culture, complete with portions of the ceremony given in Lakota, traditional blessings passed down through generations spoken over them through the day, and a round dance at dusk.

It was such an honor to be a small part of this intimate celebration in the shadow of Black Elk Peak, one of the most sacred places on Mother Earth.

Erin + Alex

Erin and Alex are a real-life story of the beloved sitcom New Girl.

Erin was on the hunt for a place to live off campus while she was finishing college in Brookings. She ran across a listing of a room available for rent in a house near campus, a house shared by Alex and his roommates.

The guys of the house had one simple rule: No one dates Erin, lest things get messy. Alex promptly broke that rule when a short time later, he and Erin were dating.

And like the show, they got their happy ending, with guests from 16 different states coming to the Black Hills for their celebration.

Nearly three years ago to the day, we had the honor of being a part of Rudy’s sister’s wedding at Sylvan Lake.

We made enough of an impression that last night, Rudy and Tasha asked us to do their wedding, once again at Sylvan.

And it was just as electric this time as it was for Chandler and Kara’s wedding.

Jacob + Kyle

Kyle grew up in South Dakota but chose to go to college in Tacoma, Washington. While there, through a mutual group of friends, she met Jacob, who was visiting for the weekend from Washington State University.

Through a series of life events, they had to endure several years of a long distance relationship, cherishing every moment they got to spend in the same place.

The couple now calls Sioux Falls home, where Kyle is finishing med school, but wanted to celebrate their wedding in the always immaculate Custer State Park, a place that holds a special place in the hearts of Kyle’s family.
