Ziggurat Theatre Ensemble

Ziggurat Theatre Ensemble Ziggurat Theatre Ensemble is a critically acclaimed company that recently relocated to pastoral Bowdoinham, Maine, after twelve years in Los Angeles.

Our work explores world myth, culture and ritual-- a given culture's "spiritual poetry" -- through original productions performed with heightened physicality and visually distinctive style. Elements of dance, drama, music, masks and movement are intertwined in Ziggurat plays and productions.

A large part of the Sand Princess is mask work! We have three characters in masks created by Beckie Kravetz, a sculptor and theatre artist who lives in MA. Visit https://bksculpturestudio.com/ to see more of her amazing work!

Dana Legawiec, playing one of our masked ghouls, is an expert on working with masks. Having trained with Dell’Arte International School, she has been performing with masks for over 30 years! For more information on masks or mask training visit http://www.danacwlegawiec.com.
