This is a Thank you post to all of you that purchased one of our babies yesterday. I do appreciate all the interest and I know quite a few went to good homes. Just a reminder, If you transfer the papers into your name before January 1, 2027. Your horse will be entered into our buckle drawing. If you currently own a TALEBAR, you can enter as well. Just send us an email or message in January 2027, drawing will be in February. Also, thank you to Hub City Livestock Auction for their help with selling the horses.
In 1988, I bred my first mare. I’ve owned horses long before breeding them. For over half a century horses have been a part of my everyday. I grew up at a time when the activities had nothing to do with a screen. I remember as a young child, I saved all my birthday money to buy a sorrel pony with a flaxen mane and tail. He cost $15. “Good ol Sugarbear”! It was my neighbor who rode him first, as I was too scared to get on. However, once I got on, I became unstoppable. It gave me a confidence to deal with anything that came my way. I don’t know If I would have that same confidence today had I never purchased that pony.
My parents were not horse people, so I appreciate all they went through to help me get started. We lived on a very small acreage back then. It was a time when every place that could hold a cow or a horse had one. Families got together for a fun play day. Not to “show each other up” But to enjoy, make connections, eat good food and ride a horse.” Going to the “Sale” was also another social event. Many families with children would go to the sale. People talked about pedigrees, experiences they had with horses, and what trouble their horse got them into.
The auction barn is a place to socialize, connect a buyer with a seller. Some think selling at an auction is a bad thing, but I’m here to say how GOOD it can be. We sold 10 AQHA babies. All sold. We do not set a reserve, we do not set a “Floor”, we are selling with the sole purpose of connecting with people. We are also attempting to provide quality horses with good trainable dispositions at an affordable price.
Did our foals top the sale? No, Was it a success? ABSOLUTELY, YES! Here is why, I saw a young girl get her dream horse, she was so excited she jumped up and down. Her pink hoodie bounced as the pink boots left the floor. She hugged the book of registration papers in the office and she told me her upcoming plans for that horse. Everyone that witness this was so happy for her! I saw another buyer get excited because out of all the horses at the sale he “got the one” that caught his eye. Another family, is very excited to have a big beautiful bay to work with and train this winter. A few others contacted me and were so excited they got the ones they wanted !! I saw a father connect with his son and make plans over the horses, which was another priceless moment. The best part? They all had one thing in common, the smiles on their faces and the memories I know those horses will create.
I saw TALEBARS bring individuals, new dreams, hopes, confidence and happiness. After all, a TALE is a story. Our horses will help their new families tell a lot of them. “Even at the BAR”.
