My daughter and I have known and worked with Michael Gaffney for 5 years when she started modeling at the age of 13.
He has been an such an asset for my daughter and helped her to kick start her career by helping her build her portfolio and comp cards. I know I can always count on him to get great clean shots that showcases her natural beauty.
He always provides us with so many proofs to choose from and we always get them back within a quick and timely manner.
He has always made us both feel so comfortable and is a joy to work with. His creativity as as artist has provided us with many fun and beautiful shots. He also enabled Sela to be published in a magazine and she was chosen to be their cover model. We will forever be grateful to him.

Micheal, as an artistic expression, I really love the inherent challenge you offer to your viewer, with the implicit religious iconography in this beautiful shot. This IS art, what you've created and it is really one of those pics that is truly worth a thousand words, especially to the deeper, astute thinker. The model is lucky to have this in her port and WE are lucky to have something compelling to talk about!

The difference between Michael Gaffney and most other photographers in Utah is that he has spent a lifetime studying ART, and they have spent two years studying cameras. They "capture"what was in front of them ...he "creates" ...and then there is Amanda. She is like Twinka, Iman, and Cindy. Michael Gaffney works within the tradition of photogravures portraiture but with contemporary photopolymer print plates. He also works with traditional etching via copper and zinc plates, abstract mixed media, and found objects.

Gaffney describes his creative process: "Right brained by day, left brained by night, leading to the development of often whimsical view of serious subject matter. My interest in fine prints, both antique and contemporary interpretations of life and our surroundings, has remained grounded in the quality of balance between line, color, and texture. It is within this context that my thoughts become conceptualized into figurative line-work balanced with background features to create sense of movement or, at times, suspension in time. Abstraction, form without function, see to it you see it. I respond to the plate in the midst of creating it, not aware of the outcome until I find it.
