Caesar, Brutus, and currencies of power in ancient Rome — The Ides of March at the CU Art Museum 🗡️

What can ancient Roman coins tell us about Julius Caesar's rise to power, his assassination, and the real people behind Shakespeare’s extraordinary drama? 🪙

Visit the CU Art Museum before the Colorado Shakespeare Festival's performance of "Julius Caesar" on July 18th for a special behind-the-scenes look at our newest exhibition, featuring remarkable ancient Roman coins. 👀

See how Caesar, Brutus, and Mark Antony portrayed themselves, their ideals and power!

Professor Elspeth Dusinberre (Classics) will facilitate an in-gallery talk about the famous and rare “EID MAR" coin, minted by Brutus in 43–42 BCE to commemorate Caesar's assassination.

Doors open 4:00–6:00 pm, in-gallery talk begins at 4:30 pm. This event is free and open to all.

Last week, the “JC” cast and crew presented an incredible, moving, and enticing designer run-through.

The team truly gave it their all, only to be elevated as they enter the physical world in the Roe Green Theatre this week for tech week. ✨

This year's company is SO excited to welcome audiences BACK to the newly renovated Mary Rippon Outdoor Theater for William Shakespeare's romantic comedy "Twelfth Night". ✨

Separated by an ocean storm, siblings Viola and Sebastian find themselves faced with love triangles, mistaken identity, and sword fights. Just how will it all work out?? It may only be revealed in the MROT this summer!! 😵‍💫 👀
