Bye from Cordelia! Headed into maternity leave ♥️
Friends, I want to thank each and every one of you for your support and encouragement of our art over the years. As I prepare to bring a new little life into the world, I’ve been reflecting on how lucky and grateful I feel to have created and produced original theatre in Boulder for the past 6 years. From our first thrilling run of Man Up in 2019, to our enriching seasons of songwriting workshops, playwriting classes, writers circles, staged-readings, concerts, monologue series, musicals, and finally to our most recent run of We’re Still Here earlier this year, we’ve had the time of our lives telling stories and making music for you.
You have given us the time, freedom, and support to express our ideas through art for six years. I can imagine no greater gift. And I hope in return one of our shows has touched you— even just for a moment— to feel a sense of community and love in this incredibly divisive time in America. May we all continue to hold on to each other, to sing in the face of silence, to dance in the face of danger, and to remember we are one people, sharing one planet, for a split second of cosmic time.
For now, I’m shifting my focus to caring for a newborn, and likely returning to school in the fall for a masters degree in mental health counseling. There’s no doubt in my mind I’ll be back to writing songs and scripts before too long, but Empathy Theatre Project will be dark for a little while as I undergo this transition. We’ll keep you posted when the next artistic spark ignites our imagination, and let you know when we have another show on deck.
Thank you, beloved community, for everything you’ve done for me and for Empathy Theatre Project. We love you all so damn much.
Keep creating, keep dreaming—
Cordelia
