A transformational teller with a rich background in theater, Diane's dynamic storytelling is filled with living characters, movement and song, bringing each story vividly to life. "A Thousand Doorways" the true story of her journey to forbidden mountain villages in Turkey in search of the last Kurdish storytellers received raves and five star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. “An epic story told with consummate skill.” -the Stage UK. In addition to personal stories, Diane's theatrical storytelling events include celebratory evenings of traditional tales accompanied by accomplished musician collaborators. These theatrical music and story events celebrate seasonal changes such as the Summer and Winter Solstice as well as Irish culture and the myths and music from cultures around the world with a focus on the beauty of nature. Diane's events are also available as fully licensed performance videos, expertly filmed in venues from Scotland to the International Storytelling Center. These video streams are accompanied by lively, interactive Q & A and A.M.A via Zoom for additional engagement.

I'm preparing for my first telling of the "mother of all vampire tales" LeFanu's CARMILLA. It'll be part of Langdon House's 'Victorian Frightful' in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Saturday Oct 17th at 4 PM is sold out but there are still tickets to October 15th at 7 PM. Telling The Nightingale by Hans Christian Andersen at his statue in Central Park, NYC. An ongoing Saturday morning series at 11 am. Funded by the Hans Christian Andersen Storytelling Center What an honor to tell this masterwork. Thank you Hans for writing tales that are as relevant today as they were when you conceived them. Artificial Nightingale? Hmmmm I wonder if people will realize the Real Nightingale with its spontaneity and source in nature is the most important? Laura Simms is the Artistic Director of the series and I shared the stage with Geraldine Buckley who told humorous true and folkloric stories to liven up a rainy day.

Last Friday Channeling Rachel Carson toured to Lincoln, MA. Rachel's editor lived in Lincoln and it is a town well known for its environmental advocacy. So many important meetings and responses to the performance. The gathering for story-sharing after the performance was so profound. It is clear that this idea of how can we Channel or bring into our lives those like Rachel Carson who stood up for nature in times of extreme peril is so important. Come join me for any of my upcoming shows- Touring next weekend to Ithaca NY and then on Earth Day April 22nd at 7:30 PM in my home community of Boston- Jamaica Plain.
