The Factory Theatre

The Factory Theatre The Factory Theatre is a 49 seat Black Box Theatre, with high ceilings and beautiful exposed bricks. This remains our mission today.

The theatre at the Piano Craft Guild has had many names throughout the years: The Beau Jest Moving Theatre, Threshold Theatre, and most recently Devanaughn Theatre. It has always remained a popular and affordable choice for fringe theatre companies in Boston to produce some very impressive works, classics as well as originals.

We said goodbye tonight.

As Greg was taking down the sign outside, he turned to me and said "wait til you see what's under here".

Yup, that's the old Devanaughn sign. It's stayed put under ours for the last seven years.

This is our last week of performances in that brick room that we have loved so well.

There are only four more performances of Happy Medium's production of Language of Angels and Saturday's closing night show is already sold out.

There are still advance tickets available for tonight, tomorrow and Friday.

Hi everyone, Deirdre here.

I know many of you may have already heard, but it is with great sadness (honestly, I can't really stop crying) that I need to confirm that the ownership of The Piano Craft Guild, from which the Factory leases its space, has decided not to renew that lease for the 2014/2015 season.

Unless there is some magical change of heart by said ownership, the Factory Theatre will close its doors on October 31st.

I (and others, love them all!) have already begun mobilizing. There should be something in tomorrow's Boston Globe about the closure, StageSource has our back and the amazing outpouring of love and support that I've already seen from this vibrant community warms my heart.

This will mean that a whole lot of theater companies will be homeless next season. I hope you will join us in supporting them and helping us find them space to do their work.

Even sadder than losing that theater that we love so much, would be to not use this opportunity to be loud about the lack of affordable performance spaces in Boston. I just don't want to go quietly, feel me?

This weekend only over at The Factory Theater, we're delighted to have a double feature of solo shows presented by Overcoat Theater and MassMouth. If you like Mike Daisy, Spalding Gray or The Moth, you'll definitely want to check this out.

Melting in Madras featuring H.R. Britton and Monocular Man featuring R. Jim Stahl (making his first appearance at The Factory Theater!).

Remaining performances are tonight (6.27) and tomorrow (6.28) at 7pm and Sunday (6.29) at 3pm. Tickets are just $20 (cash at the door) and the box office will open 30 minutes prior to curtain.

For more details, be sure to check out their website: http://meltinginmadras.blogspot.com/

Hey folks,

Unfortunately due it an unforeseen emergency heart and dagger has had to cancel tonight's 7:30pm show of Jesus. Pay what you can night has been rescheduled to tomorrow.

The weather outside is frightful, but Happy Medium Theatre's delightful production of The Eight: the Reindeer Monologues is going ahead as scheduled tonight at 8pm here at The Factory.

We're only two blocks from the Mass Ave stop on the Orange line and T service is up and running.
