This is the last week to view Signature Member Sally Newman’s artwork in the front facing windows of the gallery.

Sally Newman creates a distinctive style that she calls “Anirealism” which is a combination of animation and realism. Her use of saturated color, bold dynamic composition and dark lines provides a dimension rich in imagery, energy, action, and detail. Her medium is oil on canvas. Her paintings are mostly viewed from above the picture plane thereby allowing the viewer a perspective directly into the scene.

Her work is available to view or purchase on our website.

A no-nonsense fire-hose of information that includes everything you need to know to make better representational drawings and paintings, led by Julie Beck, the Assistant Director of the Academy of Realist Art, Boston's premier atelier training program.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 29th, from 12:30 - 4:00 PM. Use the link below to register!

https://cosogallery.typeform.com/to/EtkpgrDV

Even if you don’t have the ability to train at an atelier in person, you can take this information and deep dive at your own pace into the many elements that are taught in technical training. Who needs four years of Atelier training when you have Julie cramming all this information into your face?

After an in depth lecture, Julie will roast a selection of paintings/drawings that were submitted in advance.

Cost: $95 (Co|So Artist Members, Co|So Patrons, and affiliates of the Academy of Realist Art Boston receive a 10% discount.)

Co|So recently celebrated Geoffrey Teale Chalmers for his long-standing dedication to our community and his distinguished body of work as an Artist Member and Board Member of the Copley Society of Art. This past Friday, Chalmers' artwork took over the Little and Upper Galleries for an evening of appreciation as he embarks on his next chapter.

He discussed his artwork, highlighting his creative practice and process, as well as summarizing his time spend as an involved member of the Co|So community. We are forever thankful for Chalmers' dedication and passion for Co|So artists and members.

Hi work will be available to view or purchase either in person or online until August 30th. Visit the link below!

3 objects, 3 artists, 3 perspectives.

In Co|So's newest exhibition, "Resonance of the Ordinary", three artists, .beckingham and .nyberg encourage and inspire each other while working.

In the past, they have done still life challenges where someone would choose a prompt (ie. locks/keys) and they would each create a painting featuring an appropriate object. For this show, they decided to each contribute one item, and in turn took possession of all three to incorporate into a still life as they saw fit.

The set up could contain anything else, but had to include those three items. They kept the results a secret from one another and only saw each other's completed work when delivered to the gallery!
