The opening scene of Late Fall.

A film about the beautiful, exhausting reality of early parenthood, the love, the tension, the miscommunications, the laundry, all at once.

Late Fall follows two new parents navigating the modern realities of raising a toddler. Misaligned under the pressure of it all, each struggling to see the other, until a stranger enters their lives and changes everything.

If you're a new parent, considering becoming one, or looking back on those years......this film is for you.

Screening August 1 at Woods Hole Film Festival Falmouth Academy Simon Center, 5 PM, Spirit of Massachusetts block.

Tickets on sale July 1. Links in comments.

Behind every submission is hours of research. Reading about festivals, understanding their audiences, thinking carefully about where Late Fall belongs and why.

Then writing the letters. Signing them. Stamping them. Slipping in a photo from the film. Walking them to the mailbox.

This film was made by a team of New England professionals who gave everything to a story they believed in. Crew members who showed up early and stayed late. A cast who brought these characters to life. People who could have been anywhere else and chose with us in the set of Late Fall Film

Every late night I spend getting this film in front of programmers and audiences is my thank you to them.

We are going to bring this film to as many festivals and as many audiences as we can. That's what they deserve. This is how I thank everyone who showed up for this film.

We're going to Woods Hole Film Festival

Late Fall Film is an official selection of Woods Hole Film Festival. We screen Aug 1st at 5pm in the Spirit of Massachusetts block.

This image is from one of my favorite scenes in the film. We shot it at Mary O'Malley Park in Chelsea β€” a Boston beach. My toddler was losing it on set, so I sat down next to my lead actor Kyle Gregory and breastfed my son right there in front of the cast and crew to calm him down.

And then the magic happened.

Kyle improvised around whatever Leander was doing. Our DP Ken Willinger kept rolling and caught everything. Our editor Cecilia Prestamo took that unscripted footage and built one of the best scenes in the film. The scene is where Danny, a new father who has been struggling to show up, finally finds a way to connect with his son.

This is what it looks like when an incredible cast and crew just rolls with it.

Today we got rejected from two film festivals.

And then we got into Woods Hole.

We Celebrated!!!

Late Fall is an official selection of Woods Hole Film Festival β€” screening August 1st, the final day of the festival, in the Spirit of Massachusetts block.

The rejection and the acceptance came on the same day. That feels about right for independent filmmaking. You fail more than you succeed, and you keep going anyway.

Co-directed by Abigail Jean Lucas and Alecia Orsini . Two women who navigated motherhood and filmmaking and who believed in this story from the beginning and never stopped pushing it forward.

We're just getting started.

I am so grateful for the moment I asked Alecia Orsini Lebeda to co-direct Late Fall with me. And she said yes.

I had a vision and a story. Alecia had twenty years of industry experience and a filmmaker's instinct that made this film possible. Together we found our way into this story and onto this screen.

She held the production together on days when everything was pulling in different directions. And she brought her own creative voice to every decision we made.

There is something so special about making a film about early parenthood with someone who was living it alongside you. Two mothers. Two little ones. One story about early parenthood.

Late Fall is her directorial debut. And I am proud and honored to share that credit with her.

Thank you AJ. From the bottom of my heart.

We're back from Ireland πŸ€

Late Fall had its World Premiere and I watched our film on screen for the first time - with my son beside me.

Thank you Fastnet Film Festival for welcoming us. To the filmmakers we shared the screen with - I learned a lot.

This is just the beginning.

The Trailer is here!

Late Fall is a short film about two new parents in a working class Boston apartment, both drowning under the demands of a toddler, both trying in ways the other cannot see. When both cross paths separately with a stranger β€” a woman who has everything money can buy but is missing everything it cannot β€” they are finally forced to see each other, perhaps for the first time.

We are thrilled to announce our World Premiere Fastnet Film Festival in Ireland
