It just wouldn’t be the Patrick J. Touhey Memorial Weekend without the one and only, Mr. David Quinn!

The unique sound that Patsy Touhey, and many of his piping colleagues achieved would not be possible without the tireless work of their devoted pipe makers. This year, David’s presentation will analyze the pipes made by the Taylor Brothers and other early American pipe makers. We can’t wait! 🔎🪈

We are delighted to welcome Mr. Richie Piggott back to the Patrick J. Touhey Memorial Weekend this April! Richie has presented at every Memorial Weekend to date, and we are thrilled to have him return once again, this year with a presentation entitled “Music of the Pleasant Hour Saloons in America.” His talk promises to explore a fascinating and often overlooked corner of Irish musical life in America.

Originally from Cobh, Co. Cork, and now based in Chicago, Richie is a respected researcher, collector, and author with a deep interest in the history of Irish traditional music, its musicians, and its archival record. Through his book Cry of a People Gone, and his extensive online archive, he has helped preserve and illuminate important stories from the Irish music tradition in America.
