If there is nothing solid to the hand, it is solid enough to the mind, and upon that smallest beginning, the need of the mind builds. Happy Friday!

Under the provisions of good fortune, I followed the cotton candy clouds to the sea with my black coffee in one hand and my camera in the other as the world woke on this glorious Friday.

We can build our lives from the inside out, we can stop asking what the world wants from us but instead ask ourselves what we want for our world.

What do you want from your world?

We can do hard things, like be alive and love deep, and lose it all because we do these things alongside everyone else who has walked the earth with her eyes, arms, and heart wide open.

The ache is not a flaw. The Ache is our meeting place. It’s the clubhouse of the brave. All the lovers are there. It is where you go alone to meet the world. The Ache is love.

I would want a boat, if I wanted a
boat, that bounded hard on the waves,
that didn't know starboard from port
and wouldn't learn, that welcomed
dolphins and headed straight for the
whales, that, when rocks were close,
would slide in for a touch or two,
that wouldn't keep land in sight and
went fast, that leaped into the spray.
What kind of life is it always to plan
and do, to promise and finish, to wish
for the near and the safe? Yes, by the
heavens, if I wanted a boat I would want
a boat I couldn't steer.

As the swirling surf of deep tones gently orchestrated the painting in the sky above, I threw my gear over my shoulders and dove into the surf to capture this image at Newcomb Hollow.

I anchored my tripod in the sand while the waves were crashing around me. At that same moment a fisherman down the beach reeled in a striped bass. This image depicts a calm and peaceful moment yet it was the exact opposite.

I wake at 4 AM to find it is a silver morning like any other. I pour my French press coffee and drive to one of my favorite places to enjoy low tide and my morning ritual. Today the silver skies transformed into a purple and peach colored slice of solitude. At that moment I realized that a photograph is like a temple, a place to enter, and in which to feel. Enjoy this slice of solitude as I once did just a few moments ago.

“At first they were just clouds, like any other.
Then they swelled and swirled; then they hung very still'
then they broke open. This is, I suppose,
just one of the common miracles,
a transformation, not a vision,
not an answer, not a proof, but I put it
there, close against my heart, where the need is, and its serves

the purpose. I go on, soaked through, my hair
slicked back;
like corn, or wheat, shining and useful.”

Why do I wake up before the birds begin singing to the rising of the sun?

“Because I’m a human being meant to be in perpetual becoming. If I’m living bravely then my life will become a million deaths and rebirths, sunrises and sunsets. The goal is to surrender what I once was so I can become a truer more beautiful version of myself.

May the invisible order become visible, may our dreams become plans.” - Glennon Doyle, Untamed

Swirling pink skies hover over the famous .cottages exposing the simplicity of life on the Outer Cape. I love the marriage between the earth, the sky and the humbly constructed cottages sitting on the edge of Cape Cod Bay.

My first thought is that these little structures are incredibly strong and brave to have survived nearly 100 years of devastating storms. The second thought is, if they can do it, so can we. Perseverance + Patience + the will to live & love one another is key 🔑❤️
