It is truly an honor!

This , MAXCourage is thrilled to share with you the cover of our special 35th anniversary cover artwork created by Sherwin Long, a 2000 MAXFellow from Boston Renaissance Charter Public School. 🎨📚

Sherwin's story began with an award-winning MAXCourage essay about saving his brother from drowning. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and has become a celebrated artist and illustrator. Sherwin donated this original piece to MAXCourage in honor of the organization's 35th anniversary.

Titled Psithurism, its background features photographs of students who have been published in The Courage of Children over the past 35 years.

The Right Whale Conservation Artwork Auction runs online April 15-25, 2026. Featuring original, marine-life-inspired works by talented Massachusetts artists, each piece tells a story of beauty, urgency, and hope.

Presented by the Massachusetts Environmental Trust in celebration of the Fourth Annual Right Whale Day at the New England Aquarium on 04/24/2026, this charity auction pairs creativity with conservation. Selected artworks will raise vital awareness and funds for ocean protection while supporting the artists who create them.

At a critical moment for the North Atlantic right whale—a rare "baby boom" brings hope, yet only about 384 whales remain-your participation matters. Bid boldly, support conservation, and help ensure these magnificent animals have a future.

CURATOR’S NOTE:
In the face of adversity, “We The People” have undergone so many changes — adapting, adjusting, and at times compromising. But with the odds stacked against us, there are those of us who take that pressure and hurt, to transform it into beauty and hope, shining brighter than ever as the world around us grows dim. “We Create Diamonds” serves to highlight a selection of artists who have taken a step towards shining a bit of that light back into the world through their stories, their voices, and through their art, reclaiming and redefining what it means to be We, The People.

Artisans Asylum:
96 Holton Street
Boston, MA 02135

Opening reception: March 6 | 7-9pm

Gallery will be up March 6 – May 3, 2026

Gallery A2 is ecstatic to present Absurdity, a group exhibit comprised of work that embraces the absurd in the face of today’s reality.
Please join us for the opening reception of Absurdity 🙂
A group exhibtion where creative practioners have embraced the absurd in the face of today’s reality of declining public trust, polarization, incivility, personal attacks, societal disengagement and disillusionment, rampant misinformation, lies, and alternative facts.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Artists resist oppression through expressions of sorrow and whimsy, splendor and repugnance, profundity and silliness. MakingArt has the power to overcome complicity, apathy, and indifference — an antidote for slop and banal escapism. By its very nature, the creation of art—defining and expressing personal meaning when the universe seems to have none—both embraces and rebels against the absurd.

Free and open to public
Live soundscape by special guest Dj DamienPaul
