Next weekend is excited to partner with .to expand the upcoming second edition of to include Locking in addition to Popping.

Funk Styles dancers from across the continent will be converging on Boston from Sat-Sun March 21-22 for a funkified series of workshops, cyphers, showcases, and battles at the (41 2nd Street, Cambridge, MA 02141). Tickets available at:

Funky & FREE the four forthcoming Friday eves in January! And below are THREE important to-knows before you go, yo!

#1 - CONTENT:

As a four-part course, each session builds on the previous one with limited content repeated from week to week; we keepin’ it fresh each sesh’!

Each session will:
...start with a different video for historical context
..will cover different Locking vocabulary—from the creator ‘s foundational moves to major contributor’s signature steps—
..and end with a different freestyle exercise. So, participants can look forward new content each & every Friday.

If you can’t make it every week, no worries & it’s all good but the more sessions you attend the more cohesive & complete your understanding of Locking will be and mo’ funkier you’ll feel!

LOCKING VOCAB & FREESTYLE LAB💥

Kicking off 2026 with what some consider to be America’s first street dance, a funky style pioneered by Don “Campbellock” Campbell in Los Angeles in the early 1970s, LOCKING or THE CAMPBELLOCK!

During the “Locking Vocab & Freestyle Lab” series, participants will learn Locking’s foundational moves and some signature steps in a fun & interactive format that will also strengthen their comfort & confidence when it comes to freestyling using Locking’s vocabulary. Through opening videos and discussion, participants will also gain insights into the history of Locking and the people who created & have contributed to it.

This series is lead and instructed by A-A-Ron of an artist educator who is dedicated to the celebration & preservation of Locking. In recent years, A-A-Ron’s been the Locking instructor for grassroots movements and large institutions alike right here at home all the way to Abu Dhabi to Rio de Janeiro and back. Catch him Friday’s in January in JP!
