Mark your calendars! BYSO's Intensive Community Program Strings recruitment application will open on Tuesday, September 8 at 12 pm ET!

The Intensive Community Program is building a community where young musicians from historically underrepresented communities can access high-quality classical music education, discover their musical voices, and see themselves reflected in the world of orchestral music.

Through mentorship and ensemble experiences the program works to expand access to classical music education beyond traditional boundaries—creating opportunities for more students to learn, grow, and thrive through music.

Through this work, we spotlight the journey of our students who oftentimes spend a decade with us, developing their musical expertise but most importantly their voice and leadership; learn more about Meeka Toure Ortiz!

Our BYS, REP, and JRO orchestras kicked off the year by building friendships, making music, and—most importantly—having FUN together before their first rehearsals in September!

These early connections help create a sense of belonging that makes the BYSO experience so meaningful, turning an orchestra into more than just a group of musicians—it becomes a community.

A huge thank you to the New England Music Camp, and to all of the incredible students and teachers who made this experience so special, joyful, and FUN! We can’t wait to see where this year takes us.
