It’s been a week since we opened Conor McPherson’s “The Weir”, and we’re still reeling from the fantastic time we had producing our first ever fully-staged show. From purchasing tickets to amplifying us on social media, your support means the world! We cannot wait to participate in the Boston Theater Marathon in May, and conclude our season with “Bloomsday” in June (casting announcements coming out soon). Stay tuned for the announcement of our 2026-2027 Season, exploring Irish works that bring us from the darkness into the light.

Special thanks to the amazing cast, production team, HCE Staff & Board, and The Foundry for making this production possible. Endless gratitude to The Footlight Club, Theater III, and Black Dog Theatre for supporting our production through set and prop rentals.

Meet the Players of The Weir!

Julia Hertzberg (Valerie): I love that the magic in The Weir isn't flashy. It is a centuries-old undercurrent of lore. McPherson lets his ordinary small-town characters connect to a deep well of historical mysticism to make sense of their lives. This down-to-earth accessibility, as well as the play's poetic lyricism, has been beautiful to experience in this process.

The Boston Area Premiere of 'The Weir' opens this Friday at The Foundry in Cambridge! Grab your tickets at our website https://www.hce-players.org.

Meet the Players of The Weir!

Derry Woodhouse (Jack): The Weir for me is a play that transports you to a time and place where social media did not distract from the art of conversation and storytelling ,where people sat and listened and engaged with one another and where the greatest emotions are delivered in the smallest details that are capable of blowing the heart right open.

Meet the Players of The Weir!

Bradley Belanger (Brendan): The Weir mixes themes of consumption, nightlife, and human vulnerability with the culture of Ireland. I love this show. It chases a traumatic story with a shot of whiskey and a half pint.

Meet the Players of The Weir!

Matty Finn (Jim): I see The Weir as an exploration of the ghosts we live with, showing that our relationships are defined as much by the people we’ve lost as by those who stay to listen.
