2 weeks ago at a portrait sketching competition and placed 2nd among some incredible painters like who placed 1st and who placed 3rd. I also got to paint next to .sokol which was really fun since I used to ask him for a critique after every portrait competition when he judged them. I feel grateful for the competitions hosted and for organizing them as it brings artists together from different circles and pushes us to be better.

Just submitted this painting for a grant competition, would’ve loved to do more with it but stopping here for now. Thanks Jason David Frank for being part of my childhood, the comics from boom studios on lord and might morphin power rangers renewed my interest and love for this series. I depicted “Tommy Oliver” (jdf) in his original green ranger suit with the different ranger suits he’s worn in the back. Special thanks to for helping me with taking the photo and for inspiring me to paint superheroes, both of them are amazing painters so check out their work! Love you guys!

Recent 3 hour sketch of my friend rose . I love doing these portrait sketches and grabbing my friends to pose for me. It’s a great way to get to know someone and get some much needed practice in too! We were chatting so much in the beginning and I think you can see how distracted I was in my start haha. I love chatting with my friends even if the painting doesn’t turn out.

I have been working on a series of personal work to reflect the time I spent with my father in both the beautiful moments and the suffering that comes with sickness. In a better world no one should have to be worried about the financial burden of seeking health when they are ill. I watched my father work tirelessly to support his family, pay off hospital bills, and finishing paying off the mortgage so we could have a house to live in before he would pass away. I watched him do all of this as he was struggling to breathe, as he grew skinny, and turned gray. When you see someone you love slowly die in front of you, you begin to realize the fragility of life and how precious every moment is. You look for beauty even in the darkest moments and no one should have to feel the financial burden of being sick while they are losing their facilities… their ability to live life. I believe as artists we have a responsibility to share beauty but also humanity. Please help share this message so we can lessen the suffering of those who are already are. Thank you.

Ive been playing around with drawing in white chalk and charcoal recently and I really like it :). Im normally very reserved in using my white and using the tone of the paper more. However this time I tried to use as much of it as I could and I like the effect. I apologize for not having been posting recently, I’ve grown tired of sharing head studies and I felt the need for something new and different. Im using white and soft charcoal on fabriano ingres paper.

Here are 2 50 min sketches and a 25 min one done at .academyofart. This was a great way to warm up on my first day of school last week. Im excited to share more and the things Im learning here. The teachers are incredible and so is the facility and community. Im missing the artstudentsleague and my friends at GCA too but Im super excited to be here. @ Barcelona, Spain
