WLP Assistant Professor Sarah Cole and her undergraduate students spent the semester researching the sustainability of AI in publishing to help answer the questions posed by professionals in the industry. Soon, you will be able to see their findings and suggestions in the Book Industry Study Group. This collaboration between Emerson College and the professional industry gave our students direct exposure to the real world and we hope to continue seeing such amazing work!

Though they may not have been able to walk the steps, two of our very own SOA students, along with four other Emersonians, were present at the Cannes Film Festival back in May, providing coverage and insight for The Independent. WLP’s Mia Cassidy ‘26, the Deputy Editor, Art & Photography, and Molly Fitzgerald ‘28, Copy Editor, got to experience the prestigious festival and share their thoughts with us all. You can find their articles on The Independent’s website.

We have all seen movie adaptations of books, but it is rare to see authors directing their own book’s film adaptations. That is what Riley Miller ‘26 wants to do. Through building her own major: The Process of Film Adaptation, she will be diving into both creative writing and directing. We are excited to see your work on paper and on the big screen!

30 seconds on stage. Over 200 hours in the making! 🎭
For SWEET CHARITY, the Good Fairy’s dress became one of the show’s most memorable moments. Designed by Nina Turovskiy ’26 and brought to life by Izzy Bacallao ’26, the piece came together through weeks of drafting, fittings, and iteration.
From the internal “cage” structure to the sculpted bodice, every detail was carefully constructed to hold its shape and support movement on stage.
The work involved students, faculty, and staff across roles. Bacallao worked with Performing Arts cutter/draper Erika Krause, and actress Emily Barnett ’26 contributed throughout fittings to ensure the costume functioned seamlessly in performance.
It’s a brief moment in the show, but a complex process that reflects the care, skill, and shared effort behind every production. 🦁💜
