RUN THAT S**T BACK! 😮‍💨🔥

We're popping back on your socials to recap our Palestine fundraiser event last month, featuring the legends & at .cambridge, hosted by us & !

Bringing pioneers of Jersey Club & Ghetto House / Footwork to our city was more than a lineup choice, it was a moment for these cultures and scenes to meet, and for all of us to come together and celebrate the roots that have shaped so many of us around the world. The energy for the night was out of this world, and all of YOU were responsible for making the night as special as it was. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and shared this special night with us. 💓

⚠️ We're going to be leaving an external donation link open over the next week for anyone who wants to contribute to our donation towards Palestine. Whether you attended and want to show extra love or just want to support the cause, any amount is truly appreciated. 🙏🏾

Huge S/O to all the DJs that pieced together the night effortlessly 🤌🏾

HEADLINER SPOTLIGHT [1/2] : DJ SLUGO

We are three (!!) days away from our show at .cambridge, and we couldn't be any more excited to announce our first headliner for the night. Coming all the way from Chicago, this will be his first time playing in Boston, making it that much more special. Please give a very warm welcome to B***y House / Footwork pioneer & legend, !

DJ Slugo:

DJ Slugo has been performing since the early 1990’s as a founding member of Chicago’s infamous Dance Mania label, along with co-conspirators Paul Johnson and DJ Deeon. Slugo is world-reknown for his hits including, Wouldn’t You Like to be a Hoe Too, A Blunt, Godzilla Track, Where the Rats, and many more. London’s Underbeat Magazine calls Slugo’s Cardboard B***y album, “The most influential Ghetto House CD ever made,” and went on to call him, “The Ghetto-father of the American Dance floor.” His Chicago Juke DVD’s have gained over 2-million views in 2017. Daft Punk credits him by name, and references his track DJ’s On the Low, on their iconic song Teachers.

He was featured by name recently on HBO’s hit TV show Ballers along with his track, I Ain’t Yo Baby Daddy, and has done remixes for artists such as Nina Kraviz (Ghetto Kraviz) and Missy Elliott (Work It), and has collaborations on the horizon with artists and labels in France, Brooklyn, and Japan.

We also wanted to provide you all with some very heartbreaking updates regarding the organization we will be donating to, . A couple of days ago, Mosab Emad Ali, the camp manager for The Sameer Project, was martyred. We've included the full statement from the org regarding his passing, and our hearts go out to the entire team, as well as Mosab's family.

Finally, The Sameer Project is currently running out of money. This is even more of a reason for all of us to come together tomorrow to help raise money for an organization that is doing extremely important work in Pa!estine right now.

We love y'all, thank you for the immense support lately and for wanting to be a part of what we're doing here. We'll see you tomorrow! 🤍🇵🇸

Oh hey. Long time, no see 👋🏾 After taking a much needed break, we’re back with our first event of the year – an idea that was arguably born out of necessity more than desire. For those of you who don’t know, HÖR is a popular online music platform based in Berlin, Germany. Not long after October 7, 2023, HÖR began to selectively censor *multiple* artists on their platform for wearing clothing that showed solidarity for Palest!ne. We do not agree with this, and we do not believe that they have done enough since then to take a stand against genoc!de or address their own role in silencing the voices of an already-marginalized electronic music community.

After all, electronic music was historically born out of oppression, as a means of resisting social and political injustice through art; as such, these ideals remain inseparable from the music and the culture.

So why does this matter, right here and right now? On June 21, HÖR will be here, in Boston, hosting an event in partnership with a local music collective. Our reasons for hosting this counter-party are simple: HÖR and any form of censorship towards the people of Palest!ne are not welcome here in Boston. There is no place erasure in our electronic music community – AboveGround believes in the right to a safe, alternative space for voices otherwise…UNHEARD.

With that being said, on Saturday, June 21, we are hosting a DIY all-night long party and gathering, with the intent to safely bring those of us together who stand in solidarity with Palest!ne. 100% of ticket sales for the event will be donated to Save the Children’s () emergency relief fund for Palest!ne. Tickets are available right now on POSH via the l!nk in our b!o. We hope to see you there – because if not now, then when? 🍉

** Location to be sent out day of to ticket holders.
