Upcoming show- East Nash Grass comes to the Boothbay Opera House stage on Saturday, July 18 at 7:30 pm.

How did East Nash Grass follow up their 2024 International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) award for Best New Artist? By earning a nomination for Entertainer of the Year, IBMA’s highest honor, in 2025, and celebrating fiddler Maddie Denton’s win as Fiddler of the Year. In short, East Nash Grass have quickly established themselves as the fresh new face of Nashville’s storied bluegrass tradition, a supergroup of rising stars: Grand Master Fiddle champion Denton is joined by banjo player Cory Walker (banjo player on the five-time nominated “Carter & Cleveland” album this year, among numerous accolades), 2022 IBMA Momentum Instrumentalist of the Year Harry Clark, and new guitar player Frank Rische. This is an all-star band that harkens back to the sort of talent collected in the original Blue Grass Boys and a powerhouse leader of the next generation in bluegrass excellence.

Rolling Stone had them among the “best of what we saw” at RockyGrass in 2025, praising their “rowdy set of high-octane bluegrass numbers,” and noting, “The group itself is a rapidly-rising force on the national touring scene.”

The bluegrass titan Jerry Douglas says “Out of the Wilds of East Nashville comes this band of ringers, each of them having played in nationally known high profile bluegrass bands. The sound they make when they play together rivals that of any of their main gigs. Who knows, but I heard them as a finely tuned machine that could survive on its own. The National high profilers better hang on tight! East Nash Grass is on the move.”

Advance discounted tickets, $25, Regular tickets $30.

Coming up: Haggis X-1 will be here at the Boothbay Opera House on Wednesday, July 15 at 7:30pm.

Haggis X-1 is a high-energy Celtic rock band built around veteran members of acclaimed Canadian group Enter the Haggis, who have played at the Boothbay Opera House a few times before. Over a 30-year career, Enter the Haggis toured extensively across North America, performing on national television programs including Regis and Kelly, A&E, PBS, and at prestigious stages including the Kennedy Center for the Arts. Carrying the legacy forward, Haggis X-1 blends driving rhythms, pipes, fiddle, and memorable songs into a powerful live show that connects equally with longtime Celtic music fans and brand-new listeners.

The band delivers a mix of beloved Enter the Haggis favorites and fresh material, all rooted in strong melodies, big choruses, and a sense of celebration. In addition to Craig Downie, Trevor Lewington and Tom Barraco of Enter the Haggis, Haggis X-1’s lineup features virtuoso fiddler and multi-instrumentalist Jesse Grandmont on fiddle and mandolin (known for appearances on America’s Got Talent and performances with Barrage and Ben Harper), guitarist Will Earley adding rhythmic punch and melodic flair, vocalist/keyboardist Charlotte Roth bringing dynamic lead vocals and rich textures to the band’s sound, and Anthony Candullo on bass. Together, they create an engaging, contemporary take on Celtic rock.

Advance discounted tickets, $30, available directly from the box office at 207-633-5159. Regular tickets $35.

Looking ahead...Le Vent du Nord comes to the Boothbay Opera House on Thursday, July 16.

This award winning, highly acclaimed band is a leading force in Quebec’s progressive francophone folk movement. The group’s vast repertoire draws from both traditional sources and original compositions, while enhancing its hard-driving soulful music (rooted in the Celtic diaspora) with a broad range of global influences. “Featuring button accordion, guitar and fiddle, the band’s sound is defined by the hurdy-gurdy, which adds an earthy, rough-hewn flavor to even the most buoyant dance tunes.” — Boston Herald.

Since its inception in August 2002, Le Vent du Nord has enjoyed meteoric success, performing well over 2,000 concerts over 4 continents and racking up several prestigious awards, including a Grand Prix du Disque Charles Cros, two Junos (Canada’s Grammys), a Félix at ADISQ, a Canadian Folk Music Award, and “Artist of the Year” at the North American Folk Alliance Annual Gala. Sponsored by fans of the band!

Advance discounted tickets $30, available directly from the box office at 207-633-5159. Regular tickets $35.

Coming in just one week, Karla Bonoff returns to the Boothbay Opera House stage on Friday, June 12 at 7:30.

Karla’s legacy as a writer and her perseverance as a performer are best summed up in a Billboard Magazine review of Karla’s “All My Life” recording. “Long before Alanis and Jewel, there was a breed of singer/songwriters whose earthly anthems of soul-searching, heartache and joy touched souls in a way few can muster today.” In addition to her own albums, Karla was a prolific songwriter, including writing many of Linda Rondstadt’s biggest hits. She is touring with Nina Ge**er on this return visit to the Opera House.

Advance discounted tickets are $35, available March 18. Regular tickets are $40.

Coming in two weeks! CANTRIP comes to the stage at the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor on Friday, June 19 at 7:30.

The name Cantrip is an Old Scots word meaning a charm, magic spell or piece of mischief and it aptly describes the unexpected twists and turns in the band’s musical arrangements. Swirling border pipes, raging fiddle, thunderous guitar and three rich voices blend to create a sound energetic enough to tear the roof off. Echoes can be heard of trad music from the 1960s and 70s, but the years have slowly infested their music with the sounds of funk, metal, bluegrass, swing, and even klezmer. Cantrip sprung from a local session in Edinburgh nearly twenty years ago. Their driving music immediately caught the attention of the masses, and they were quickly signed to the Foot Stompin’ label. With their first album “Silver” (2001) in hand, Cantrip made its way across the water to the United States, where they have been received with roars and shouts (of enjoyment) in the decades since. Sponsored by a fan of the band!

One month away! Ready for a band with a fresh take on traditional Cajun, Creole, Zydeco, Swamp Pop, and Nola R & B …. and then wows you with new original songs imbued with that good juju from the bayou.

Then mark your calendar for Friday, July 3 at 7:30 because T Marie & Bayou JuJu is coming to the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor.

Their albums feature everything from acoustic improv in an empty cathedral, to live shows from the sweaty dance floors of dive bars, to the sounds of a seven piece band rocking a festival on the banks of the Mississippi River. T Marie is an ambassador of Louisiana culture and history and tonight promises to be an uplifting and haunting taste of Louisiana past and present with some unforgettable stories along the way. The band tells us “pull on your shrimp boots and be prepared to dance.” Those without shrimp boots might grab their lobster boots, or just a pair of flip flops for this outlandishly fun summer night at the Opera House. A perfect kick-off to the 4th of July weekend!

Advance discounted tickets $25, available only directly from the box office at 207-633-5159. Regular tickets $30, online and day of show.
