People often ask how to know when a piece is the right one. There is not always a clear answer. Sometimes it is immediate, other times it takes a second or third visit. What matters is giving yourself the space to look without feeling rushed. That is why we encourage taking your time. The right piece tends to reveal itself when you are ready. https://bit.ly/4bLGse3

Emil Holzhauer
"Monhegan Fish Houses"
Watercolor on paper, 15 x 22 inches

There is a quiet familiarity in scenes like this, where daily life and the working waterfront come together without ceremony.

Emil Holzauer captures the textures and structure of island life, from weathered siding to the careful placement of tools and traps in "Monhegan Fish Houses." The composition draws you in, offering a closer look at the spaces that often go unnoticed but are essential to the rhythm of the coast.

Chris Huntington
"Chimney Pond"
Oil on canvas, 24 x 36 inches

Chris Huntington brings a lifetime of observation and experience to his paintings, shaped by decades spent exploring Maine’s coastline and interior landscapes.

In "Chimney Pond," he turns his attention inland, capturing the movement of water, the weight of the mountains, and the vivid color of the changing trees. His brushwork carries a sense of energy and immediacy, reflecting both the ruggedness and beauty of the scene.

Not every piece needs to make a statement. Some of the most meaningful works are those that reveal themselves slowly, becoming part of your space and daily life over time. Those are often the pieces that stay with you the longest. https://bit.ly/4bLGse3

Timothy Horn
“Monhegan Sunshine”
Oil on canvas, 16 x 20 inches

Plein-air painter Timothy Horn knows Monhegan Island off of Maine’s midcoast as well as any artist. He also knows just how to depict a summer day on the famously remote island–puffy, white clouds, a dazzling, blue ocean, weather-worn houses, and lush, green gardens. Horn’s sun-drenched oil “Monhegan Sunshine” is an open invitation to anyone who wants to experience the real Maine, to visit this very special place. Ed Parker
"A Squabble of Seagulls"
Acrylic on panel, 18x18 inches

Southport, Maine, artist Ed Parker loves all things nautical, animals, and a sense of humor. All three are on display, along with Ed’s meticulous draftsmanship, in “A Squabble of Seagulls." The gulls, sleek, handsome creatures as painted by Ed, are beautifully rendered in great detail. One or two hapless crustaceans have also wandered into the scene. We can almost hear the gulls “squabble.” View the rest of his work: https://bit.ly/4n2as9h

A gallery can be many things. For some, it is a destination. For others, it is part of a familiar routine when they are in Maine. We think of it as a space where people can return again and again, noticing something new each time. The work may change, but the experience remains the same. https://bit.ly/4bLGse3

Stephen Pace
"Rhubarb Patch"
watercolor on paper, 14x20 inches

Stephen Pace's delightful “Rhubarb Patch," no doubt painted in Maine, uses just enough brush strokes to tell the story of a late-spring harvesting of that most puckery of plants, rhubarb. Upon his death, Pace, who loved Maine and summered in a stately former sea captain’s house in Stonington, Maine, left the house and his studio to the Maine College of Art and Design. https://bit.ly/4n0kzeF
