From Porchfest Boonville NY:

We are only two days away from Porchfest!

We cannot thank our volunteers, vendors, sponsors, performers, and everyone who has helped with the many moving parts of this event enough. Now we want everyone to come out, stay safe, and enjoy everything Boonville and the surrounding communities have to offer.

There will be plenty happening around town this Saturday, including the Backpack Drive at the fairgrounds and the new Vendors on the Heights event at 106 Hutton Heights.

Please allow yourself extra time, be patient with traffic, park legally where space is available, and enjoy walking through town and experiencing everything happening throughout the day.

We look forward to seeing everyone this Saturday!

1881

One in many times
I visited the dead
One in many times
I found solace
in their silence

One in many graves
On one of many days
Alone,
all,
one…
Souls in the sun
Secrets buried
Burdens carried
Somehow rising,
Silent crying
Living, dying,
dancing,
done.

1881.
Cholera or fire?
Fever or vampire?
A man had lost
his family.

It’s been years now
Since these angels
first called me to
their stone.
Perched at the top
of a marble turret
They want to be known.

One a son,
his sister on the other side.
She died,
and then he followed.
Their childless mother
joined them
two years later.
The father, though,
lived to be old..
How many suppers
alone at the table
before the spirits
came for him?

A wealthy family
to be certain,
with this grave
that never fades
And its angels
perched on high,
their wings pointed
to the sky,
their wise eyes
Seeing through lies

What happened in
1881?
I wondered today
again
As I wondered
years ago
when
these angels first
called to me
