Yesterday, on the summer solstice, the sun went into Cancer. The sign that ushers in the summer, this zodiac corresponds with Trump VII, the Chariot card in the major arcana of the Tarot. The Chariot is associated with momentum and getting somewhere. When this card comes up in readings, it may signify physical travel. But there is a deeper esoteric meaning of the card. Its depiction of wheels and electricity suggests power and accomplishment, which can apply to internal development as well as ostensibly reaching goals and objectives.
The figure in the Tarot illustration wears a tough shell outside of a soft interior, reminiscent of the crab and symbolic of protecting an emotional, intuitive internal world. Dressed in crescent moons, the shoulders of the figure refer to Cancerโs ruling planet, the Moon, a powerful and mysterious force. This may be seen as symbolic of being able to shoulder lifeโs challenges with internal strength. Harnessing two sphinxes of opposite qualities - black and white, soft and hard - the Chariot moves forward. And like the chariot, Cancer people tend to gain momentum by way of balance and subtlety rather than brute force.
Cancer is a water sign. A superpower of these people lies in their patience and quiet determination. Rather than expecting or demanding immediate results, they often find their way in life the way that water does. It seems soft and gentle, but over time it can cut through everything, even solid rock. As water finds its way, so does Cancer, reaching its goal and fulfilling its destiny.
