Today's Featured Artist: Amanda Sherrin (Company Member)
Amanda Sherrin lives and works here in Boone at Samaritan's Purse.
From the first time she watched the Nutcracker, Amanda dreamed of dancing. Starting with ballet and tap at 7 or 8 years old, her dream came true and she has danced for a majority of her life since.
Amanda has studied classical ballet under Karen Fitzgerald, Laurie Marshall, Hallie Cullen and Jamie Robtison and has also enjoyed learning tap, jazz, modern, hip-hop and various styles of ballroom dancing. She was a company member of Griffin Ballet Theatre and danced with Dayton Christian from 2004-2009.
Amanda received her B.S. in Musial Theatre from Bryan College and has enjoyed many opportunities to perform there as student, and later teach and choreograph as an adjunct faculty member. Highlights were as a lead dancer in the Music Man, choreographing a majority of the musical Annie Get Your Gun, directing and choreographing for student showcases and sharing her love of dance in the classroom with college students.
Other dance experience for Amanda includes dancing as a guest artist in South Korea, studying contemporary dance in South Korea under Jane Park, teaching at Dayton Christian Ballet and learning Lindy Hop at various workshop weekends.
This is Amanda's second performance with SG Dance Theatre and we are excited to have her. Amanda will be performing in "The Process", "Winter", "Forward Moving", "Yet We Remain" and "Testify" at today's performance!
