meet michelle of 🌀

When I begin my creative process I like to somewhat isolate myself and create a little nook/hobbit area where I can get comfortable and create what I feel in the moment. Sometimes it’s paint (most of the time) and other times I like using my hands to make jewelry or Lino cut for clothing… all the way to candles and wind chimes. I am always inspired by nature and the materials it gives me when I visit a river or beach.

I have multiple prints, I have jewelry made from shells/rocks/metal (usually earrings are my go to), I have clothing/bags/hats that I have thrifted and alter to make my own (adding stamps/cutting/sowing). I will also have stickers and original prints for sale.

Jude Powell is a ceramic artist currently working out of Boone, NC. They offer wheel thrown work, ceramic jewelry, and sculptures, which depict creatures with fantastical short stories, capturing both the mundane and the unusual. Their imagery is whimsical in nature and celebrates color while playfully embracing both the natural world and themes of Appalachia.

meet leigh of

Creating is a way to relieve my anxiety and find connection to the world around me. That process begins every time I look out the window, step outside to marvel at the Moon, go on a hike or even make a new friend at the coffee shop. I see the world in moments and I desire to share that with the people who inhabit it with me. I am an illustrative and impressionist landscape artist with a focus on Mountainscapes and Moon-skyscapes. When I paint, I use acrylics and oils on canvas and board. This allows me to be expressive and experience freedom. When I study I use watercolor and pen and ink on paper. This allows me to be fluid with location and frequency and explore details. Combining these practices ensures that I am always able to create, expand my experience of the world, and communicate that experience to others. It’s the best way I’ve found to be who I am and know that I belong.

meet liam of .craft 🌀

My ceramic work strives to celebrate all facets of what clay and glaze combinations can offer; how something feels is just as important to me as how it looks. My pots incorporate sections of unglazed clay to emphasize the beauty of the material, and to introduce new textures to the viewer, or holder, of the pot. The forms of my pots are hand built and inspired by the shaping that occurs naturally during the weathering and breakdown process of rock formations. This breakdown is ultimately what leads to the formation of clay minerals that make up clay bodies.
My 2-D work is also inspired by natural processes and how we, as humans, interact with the world around us. I often abstract everyday images through the use of blind contour drawings and block prints, scanned images, photographs and layering images and lines to challenge how things are looked at and interacted with.
