We’re less than a week away from our first 2024 Marching Mountaineers Color Guard Audition Day! Make sure to fill out the Intent Form to register for auditions! 🖤💛

Please wear black clothing (or App State gear!) that you’re able to dance/spin in. Flags will be provided. If you plan to audition for the weapon line, please bring your own if possible as we have limited rifles and all sabre performers must supply their own sabres. Lunch will be on your own, so please bring your wallet or pack a lunch! We are right next to Central Dining hall, so there are on campus options!

All incoming and returning performers must register before attending.

🌟🎉 What an incredible season it has been for Appalachian Ascent Winterguard! 🎉🌟

In just their second year, they've soared to new heights, clinching the Independent A bronze medalist position at CWEA Championships and securing spots in Finals at not one, but two WGI Regionals (Charlotte and Clayton)! 🥉💃

A massive shoutout to our dedicated Members for their unwavering efforts throughout the season. Your commitment has truly been the backbone of our success! 💪

Huge thanks are also due to Ron Comfort and Shelba Waldron for their invaluable collaboration and hard work with the guard. Despite a six-week winter break, our design team's meticulous planning ensured we hit the ground running for a season filled with triumphs! 🏆

Let's give a round of applause to Alex Holt, Chloe Holling, and Sean Lockheart for their exceptional choreography and teaching, shaping our performances into something truly mesmerizing! 👏

Special mention to Melissa McCurry for her outstanding work with our flag feature silks – talk about adding flair with NO straight lines! 🚩😍

And let's not forget Timothy Lee and Jill Moser, whose stunning costume designs had everyone in awe as the guard glided down the hallway and onto the floor! 👗✨

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jason Gardner, Dr. John Stanley-Ross, Dr. James Douthit, and the incredible Faculty and Staff of the Hayes School of Music for their unwavering support. We couldn't have done it without you! 🎶

We want to take a moment and thank Shelba Waldron for being in the gym with us, helping Ascent to get even better! On board since the beginning, Shelba has guided the creation of Ascent from administrative, creative, and technical aspects.

We got better and got even more perspective on performance.

Thank you to everyone who made WGI Charlotte so much fun! We’re proud to say we finished the weekend in 4th place in the Independent A class after great prelims and finals performances 🖤💛

Huge congratulations to our CWEA sister guards and for their incredible weekend! was well represented in IA finals ✨
