Monday, March 23, 2020, 6:30 P.M. Pain & Glory - Films for Film Lovers. Pain and Glory is a 2019 Spanish drama film directed and written by Pedro Almodóvar. It stars Antonio Banderas, Asier Etxeandia, Penélope Cruz, Julieta Serrano and Leonardo Sbaraglia.

The film was released in Spain on 22 March 2019 to positive reviews. It made its international debut at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, where the film was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or, while Banderas won the award for Best Actor and Alberto Iglesias won for Best Soundtrack. Pain and Glory was nominated as the Spanish entry for Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards, with Banderas also being nominated for Best Actor. Sunday, March 22, 2020, 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. Demo: Janet Rogers - "Watercolor Impressions with Flowers, Faces & Figures" at Center for Performing Arts. Fresh flowers in the studio will be the inspiration for the beginning of this workshop. Janet will demonstrate various “fun” exercises geared to interpret flowers in a loose and expressive manner. Discovering the unique “nature” of individual flowers and “finding” new colors will be highlighted.

Demonstrations and individual help will weave throughout the workshop, with an emphasis on letting the medium of watercolor lead the students to new adventures in watercolor. (PLEIN AIR – in studio!) Some goals include “keeping the whites”, avoiding “mud”, intuitive color and composition. We may touch on an approach to landscape also …. Besides working with students individually and class demos, Janet and attendees will enjoy “Show and Tell” – and opportunity to see class work together and enjoy! $20.00 per person.
