Okay, we have the champion Blue Streaks swimming and dive teams, many of the same well trained and friendly lifeguards you remember from years past, the same Friday grill and float nights, the same annual 4th of July party with DJ and games, the same rec room and clubhouse with reasonable rental rates for your next party. Okay, we have the snack

We had a beautiful ribbon-cutting ceremony, dedicating our new Tennis pavilion in memory of our dear friend Mark Wesselink.
In true Bon Air community fashion we had fun tennis, great food, drinks and fellowship! Thank you to Shanan Raines, her family, a special donor and many others who made this happen! It truly took a village!

THE WESSELINK PAVILION

The new tennis viewing area was funded entirely by the generosity of friends and family, and our wonderful tennis community!

Together, $150,000 was raised to honor the life and 34-year career of University of Richmond Womens' Tennis Coach Mark Wesselink, who led the team to 9 Conference Championships and 11 NCAA tournament appearances.

The pavilion, made possible primarily through a single generous donation from an anonymous friend of Mark, was celebrated with a wonderful turnout of over 150 community members.

In addition to this generous gift, additional funds were raised through the sale of engraved pavers, which are now a lasting part of the pavilion. We have just 10 pavers remaining and wanted to extend this opportunity to any community members, including non-tennis players, who may be interested.

If you would like to purchase a paver, please reach out to us for an engraving form. Forms are due by April 30th!

The Bon Air Community Association unveiled a new tennis court and pavilion in Richmond to honor late University of Richmond coach Mark Wesselink.

A NOTE FROM ALEXIS!

Due to this insanely cold weather, 199 inches of ice and school being cancelled until probably March, we have decided to open up membership early this year for BACA!!! We all need something to look forward to!

A few quick notes of housekeeping:

1) There was a rumor (that I definitely started) that we would have the snack bar back this summer. Unfortunately, that's being pushed to 2027, but we will get there! Something about "good things come to those who wait..."

We ARE exploring the possibility of re-opening the legendary CANTEEN for kids 13+. Stay tuned as we iron out the details!

2) We are increasing dues this year and adding new membership levels for families above 4 persons for 2026. However, we are still loving the Early Bird Special. So if you jump onto your membership login and pay before April 1st, take $25 off the membership fees. Quick and easy rundown as follows:

Early Bird Pricing runs through March 31st. A reminder that these are family memberships. A reminder of what we define as a "family "2 adults and any kids 26 or younger living in the same household."

a) Senior Single membership $300

b) Senior Couple membership $425

c) Single Membership $350

d) Two Person Family Membership $500

e) Three Person Family Membership $550

f) Four Person Family Membership $600

*We are also adding a few next levels of membership. For those who have more than 4 people in their household, an additional $120 will be added per person:

Ex: Family of 5 = $720

Family of 6 = $840

Family of 7 = $960

Family of 8 = $1,080

**Little humans that are 6 months or younger at the time of signing up, are free.

*On April 1st, all the rates above increase by $25.00

3) We have been listening! You guys want these daggone bathrooms updated. We all do. And that's what part of this membership increase will help with. In addition to that, if you would like to contribute to our "make the bathrooms better" fund via the Friends of Bon Air fund, please donate an extra $5, $15, $100,000 whatever amount feels comfortable, those extra funds will be doggie eared for the upgrade.

4) And since I'm the lucky dog who is also leading the Social Committee this year, I have lots of ideas, but need help delegating them! If you, or you know someone who is part of BACA, just gets all giddy about planning, organizing, executing fun things to do, please reach out to me! I have a handful of wonderful ideas that can either be put into motion by a rockstar volunteer, or bring your own idea(s) to the table. So far here are the ideas I'm working on developing:

a) Sunday Sundaes

b) Pinots and Plants

c) Board Game Night

d) Float Night gets elevated into Decade of Floating (focus on a decade of music during Friday of Float night *will need a DJ!)

e) Potluck and Portraits *end of the season event

f) We've Almost Made It

g) Firepit Fridays *once the pool closes and the seasons change

Please email me if you have a special talent (painting faces, caricature drawings, etc) that you think you could potentially elevate to our event calendar.
