A huge thank you from Knox.

Over the last few days, you've followed along as he designed a shirt, packed orders, wrote notes, made post office runs, and learned what it takes to turn an idea into something real.

What started as a simple goal has become so much more.

Thank you to everyone who ordered a shirt, shared a post, encouraged Knox, and helped support the Shorthorn Youth Development Fund along the way.

Watching him learn, work, and grow through this process has been pretty special.

Day 1 totals are in.

83 shirts. 24 hours. Knox raised $173.73 for the Shorthorn Youth Development Fund — 34% of his $500 goal.

V8 Ranch matched him dollar for dollar. The check that goes to SYDF on June 20 is now $347.46.

When Knox asked us to help him launch this, we didn't know what to expect. We thought maybe his grandparents would buy a couple.

Instead, families from a dozen states placed orders today. Several of you bought full bundles for the whole family. Someone bought four shirts in the same size — we have questions but we're not asking them.

To everyone who bought one, shared the email, or sent the link to your group chat: you didn't just buy a shirt. You showed an eight-year-old that an idea can become a thing real people will pay for. That's a lesson we could not have taught him alone.

It's live.

Knox's first product is on the V8 store. A Shorthorn cattle t-shirt he designed himself.

48 shirts in the first run. 10% of every sale to the Shorthorn Youth Development Fund — V8 Ranch matches it dollar-for-dollar through June 19. The combined check goes to SYDF in person at Junior Nationals on June 20.

He's been counting down to this morning for two weeks.

Jim Williams came home to V8 in 1976.

He'd just finished his animal science degree at Texas A&M and came back to manage the purebred Brahman herd. He started implementing the strict selection and culling guidelines the program still follows today.

Fifty years and counting.

Mollie and Sloan bought V8 from a payphone.

Week before Christmas, 1971. Word had gotten out that Howard Parker was looking to sell — herd, brand, ranch and all. Sloan was on the family's first ski trip, in Red River, New Mexico, when he heard. He negotiated the million-dollar deal from a payphone in town.

It was the family's first ski trip together. It was also the last.

But every animal out there represents years of decisions—pairings made with intention, cow families built over time, and a standard that doesn’t change. This is what consistency looks like when it comes together.

Yes — V8 is named after the Ford engine.

Howard Parker founded the ranch in 1944. He was a Ford automobile dealer in Center, Texas, and named his cattle operation after his favorite engine. Mollie and Sloan bought the herd, the brand, and the ranch from him in 1971.

The name stuck. So did the brand.
