BETTY BOKEELIA CREATIVE NOTES: “From the start, I knew Betty would be through and through optimistic. Crash landing to Matlacha/Pine Island/Earth felt too intense and worrisome. Design solution: Arrive from the ‘bottom’ of Earth, pushing upward into the clouds. Remove the ‘big boom’ graphics and replace with a burst of sunshine. Downward spiral becomes a roller coaster rising upward - Up! Up! And up!”

The Betty Bokeelia is a narrative experience created by Aleed Studio. The story centers on a little girl from outer space who crash lands on Pine Island. Betty makes the acquaintance of many Pine Island animals, including a community of marsh bunnies and her soon-to-be best friend, The Bear. Together they adventure across Pine Island in search of home.

“That smile is only found in a custom-made lifestyle” - Angela Leed, artist/designer/owner of ALEED STUDIO

Design challenge: A cross-strap bag that fits an iPhone with an easily accessible but secure compartment for an extra large wallet. A pocket for key fob is needed, as well.
Specifics: Materials should be extra sturdy, for international journeys, but comfortable.

Version 01 notes/ fall 2025
- Would work aesthetically better with a lining. Prefer a bright color which bounces while still maintaining a nice relationship with warm neutrals.
- Replace metal snap with velcro on inside of wallet compartment (makes more room and greater security)
Version 02 notes/ spring 2026
- Tangerine linen lining turned out lovely.
- Longer length allowed for full room of iPhone. - Wider wallet compartment with velcro closure very successful.
- May need to double stitch top edge of linen lining but wait to see how it wears.
