🔥🦎 TWO Musicals? Our 26|27 Season Finale: Lizard Boy! Book, Music, and Lyrics by Justin Huertas

Trevor has become a myth in his hometown: a lonesome outsider dubbed the “Lizard Boy of Point Defiance.” As a child, a strange encounter with a dragon turned his skin green and scaly. Now, ashamed of his appearance, he leaves his home only one day each year – on Monsterfest, the anniversary of the incident. But this year, he needs a date and meets Cary. Together, the two meet Siren, another survivor of the dragon encounter, who insists the dragons will return and begs Trevor to join her to fight them. Can Trevor accept himself and face the dragons? Will he save his city… and his first date?

Beat the buzzer and get courtside seats for our March show: King James by Rajiv Joseph

The fortunes of the Cleveland Cavaliers are about to change: The great LeBron James, the biggest star in basketball, is coming home to Cleveland. But when superfan Matt’s latest business venture turns sour, he has to sell his most prized possession – his pair of Cavs season tickets. The buyer, Shawn, just sold his first short story, so watching his team in the flesh for the first time will be a sweet reward. Now what to do with that second ticket…? Thrown together by chance, the next 12 years prove as defining, dramatic, and sometimes heartbreaking for Matt and Shawn as they do for the Cavs – and for “King” LeBron James. Multi-award-winner Rajiv Joseph delivers a clever comedy that is an intimate exploration of the role sports play in our lives and relationships.

January 2027 join BCT for: Little Bear Ridge Road by Samuel D. Hunter

In the outer limits of rural Idaho, a reclusive aunt and her gay nephew, estranged and the last two members of the Fernsby family tree, reunite to sort the mess left behind after a troubled father’s passing. They now face an uncomfortable and universal question: How do we deal with other people? Is connection more trouble than it’s worth? As their relationship begins anew, the two reluctant Fernsbys – separated by age and experience – start to understand the joys and perils of letting someone else into your own story, even if only for a moment.

Our December musical: Ernest Shackleton Loves Me
Book by Joe DiPietro
Music by Brendan Milburn
Lyrics by Valerie Vigoda

A critically acclaimed musical comedy with a tongue-in-cheek script by Tony Award®-winner Joe DiPietro (ALL SHOOK UP). In this wildly inventive and romantic adventure, a sleep-deprived single mom who makes her living as a video game music composer is contacted across space and time, via a crossed connection on her cell phone, by the famous early 20th-century polar explorer Ernest Shackleton while he is stranded on an iceberg in the Antarctic in the early 1900s. Inspired by her music, he shares his epic journey with her and, together, they overcome the odds in a timeless and very funny musical romance for the ages.

Our 26|27 Season opens with: English by Sanaz Toossi
It’s 2008, and four Iranians assemble triweekly in a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) class in Karaj, Iran. Their anglophile instructor abolishes Farsi from her classroom. They translate Ricky Martin and endure major preposition confusion; they discover how to be funny in English and ponder what they will lose in the process. As the class slowly devolves into a linguistic mess, some students cling tighter to their mother tongue while others embrace the possibilities of a new language.
