Drawn To Create I design hand-drawn surface patterns rooted in nature, heritage, and the beauty of quiet places. Shop on Spoonflower.

Fabric and wallpaper for interiors that feel collected, warm, and full of character, the rooms you never want to leave. At Drawn to Create, I believe crafting is about joy, connection, and self-expression. Jay Marie Design Studio is the shop where those ideas become SVGs & printables — tools to help you join in the fun of making and creating.

Have you ever wondered about the stories behind the fabrics in an old quilt?

I love the idea of scraps from dresses, shirts, and other sewing projects finding their way into something new. Fabrics that once had another purpose, brought together into a quilt, each carrying a little history of its own.

That was part of the inspiration for my Indigo Shibori Crazy Quilt, my entry in Spoonflower’s Patchwork Revival Design Challenge.

I brought together patterns from my own Shibori collection, arranging different shades of indigo into irregular patches and adding hand-drawn decorative stitching inspired by antique crazy quilts.

I love how these old traditions can inspire something entirely new. 💙

Voting is open through October 20! You’ll find the challenge voting page linked in my bio. If you’d like to support my entry, look for my Indigo Shibori Crazy Quilt by Drawn to Create.

Do you have an old family quilt with a story behind it? I’d love to hear it!

Have you ever started creating something with out knowing where it would end up?

That’s how this abstract came together. I started experimenting with brushes, color and texture in procreate, letting one shape lead to another. Circles, little wandering trails, and unexpected combinations kept finding their way into the design.

This is one of the pieces I submitted for consideration in Bridgetown puzzles 2027 collection.

I think all those little details would make a fun and challenging puzzle. What catches your eye first?

What makes a great jigsaw puzzle? 🧩 Lots of color? Interesting details? Or something else unexpected?

I recently submitted three of my designs for Bridgetown puzzles 2027 art call. An abstract filled with color and texture, three cats with personalities of their own, and a garden full of ladybugs.

They’re quite different from one another, but I can imagine each becoming an interesting puzzle for different reasons.

Now I’m curious, which one would you most like to put together?

1-Abstract abstract 🫟
2-Cats 😸
3-Ladybugs 🐞

Just leave a 1,2 or 3 in the comments!

A little sweet, a little exciting, and a whole lot of cherries! 🍒

Bold shapes, unexpected colors, and a nod to midcentury design. I had fun giving these cherries a personality all their own.

My third entry for the 2026 Slowdown Studio Art Competition. Can you picture this as a woven throw blanket?

My second entry for the Slowdown Studio Art Competition. Who would have thought a tin of sardines could make such a fun woven blanket?

My first entry for the 2026 Slowdown Studio Art Competition. I’d love to see this groovy gal come to life as a woven blanket!

What if damask felt a little less formal?

I’ve been playing with that idea in this new pattern—taking the symmetry and ornament I love in traditional damask and giving it a lighter, more contemporary feeling.

The soft pink, warm ivory and blue completely change the mood for me.

And I especially love seeing the pattern move from the original motif into a full repeat and then onto the dress.

I’m curious—does this still feel like damask to you?

Would you use a large-scale geometric pattern on your bed?

I wasn’t sure how this pattern would feel at such a large scale, but I absolutely LOVE how it looks on this bed.

This is my Heritage Parquet Inspired Interlocking Lattice in terracotta, camel, and sage. 🤎

The earthy colors feel so at home against the warm wood, while the geometry adds a little structure to the softness of the bedding. 🌿

I could imagine this in a relaxed bedroom with collected furniture and a few well-loved pieces.

You can see this design in my Spoonflower shop. Link in bio.
