As a former Boise public school junior high teacher for 12 years and now the parent of an 8-year-old daughter who is depending on an excellent public education, I care deeply about who is advocating for Idaho students.

This fence began with my daughter’s drawings, transformed through CNC-cut metalwork into a sculptural love letter to Mother Earth.

Each panel reflects the world through a child’s eyes ~ animals, growth, wonder, and the deep connection between all living things. One panel was inspired by my daughter painted as a cheetah, her favorite animal, symbolizing both the wild beauty and the fragile balance of nature.

Another panel honors Mother Earth as both home and living spirit ~ the queen, the giver of life, and the force connecting all beings. Circular forms and infinity symbols represent the endless cycle of life, renewal, and the idea that nature flourishes when we care for it.

This piece is ultimately about inheritance: preserving the planet for our children and future generations. It’s a reminder that the forests, animals, rivers, and wild beauty we cherish today deserve protection, so children can continue to experience the wonder and abundance Mother Earth has to offer.

While in Ketchum picking up my Warrior Women helmet for Mariel Hemingway from Hemmings Gallery, my dearest friend Jennifoofoo of 40 years opened her condo to me. Walking into her bedroom and seeing “Dreaming Peace” hanging above her bed stopped me completely and made me smile.

In a time that feels anything but peaceful, it carried me back to that serene space I was in when I made it in 2006.

Thank you, my beautiful friend, for always loving, supporting, and believing in me.

Having my daughter in the studio with me ~ sharing this passion, making, problem-solving, getting her hands dirty ~ has been one of the greatest joys of my life. From firing enamel at 3 to now plasma cutting and MIG welding, I love watching her confidence grow right alongside her skills.

Being able to volunteer together and pour that same love into our community makes it even more meaningful.

These lamps were created for the Dallas Harris Elementary auction, her 2nd grade class designed the panels and painted the glowing interiors. And yes… her masterpiece? A snake eating a butterfly 🐍🦋 (we're calling it "the circle of life... with a little attitude" ).
