Join us tonight from 6–8 PM at The Common Well for the opening reception of their newest exhibition, featuring work by the resident artists of the Alexa Rose Foundation.

We’re especially excited to celebrate our staff member Hunter Simmons, whose work How Much Does a Dollar Cost? will be on view.

The exhibition runs August 28–September 25, with an Artist Talk by Hunter on September 8 at 6 PM.

Capitol Contemporary Gallery is proud to present Interior/Exterior by Linda Williams and Snake River Corridor by Anne Peterson, featuring sculpture by Susan Rooke.

The public is invited to join us for an opening reception on Thursday, September 3, from 5:00–9:00 PM. This free evening event is an opportunity to meet the artists, view the new exhibitions, and enjoy complimentary wine provided by Vizcaya.

“In my latest body of work, I explore Idaho’s diverse birds of prey, which include 34 different raptor species—the most of any state in the United States. This collection focuses on six of these remarkable birds, with the possibility of expanding the series in the future.

I approached each piece almost as a portrait, depicting a head-and-shoulders view of the bird layered over a landscape representing the environment where it can typically be found in Idaho. I also wanted to include a life-size feather from each species to help convey the scale and physical presence of these birds.

Working from actual feathers proved more challenging than I anticipated, as all feathers are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, which was established to protect native North American bird species. The bold color blocks and trompe l’oeil shadows add another layer to the work and continue my exploration of these elements in my signature style.” — Randy Van Dyck

Gallery artist, John Taye, has his paintings on display at Cushing Terrell in downtown Boise. He is showing landscape and still life’s that a bit non-traditional and they firm produced a fabulous video about John and his process.
