Ada County's Park at Expo Idaho coming October 23, 2026. You might hear some call Expo Idaho, “the fairgrounds.” That’s due to the fact that—since 1967—this is the very spot where we’ve held the Western Idaho Fair. One of the biggest draws around Southwest Idaho, it’s the social event of the summer that brings in about 250,000 people every year. (Not to mention a pretty fair number of farm animals.) Beyond our half-century fair legacy, there’s more here than meets the eye. Throughout the rest of the year, over 750,000 people stop by for trade shows, company gatherings, auctions, sporting events, livestock round-ups, and everything else under the Idaho sun. In 2005, to better showcase the year-round utility of the place, officials renamed this 240-acre wonderland Expo Idaho. Included in this expansive space, you’ll also find the Boise Hawks and Riverside RV Park. Ada County officially owns the property and buildings here, but the Fair and Expo Idaho remain self-funded. The current director, Bob Batista, is the longest-serving manager at Expo Idaho/Western Idaho Fair.

A little sneak peek of Ada County's Park at Expo Idaho 👀

Some areas are still getting their finishing touches, so we’re saving those for opening weekend. Here you’ll see the climbing wall, net tower, nest swings, misters, and restored wetlands, and there’s a lot more to explore, including a skate garden, roller derby rink, and food truck plaza.

Come see it all at the grand opening, Oct. 23-25.

A few close-ups from the nature playground at Ada County's Park at Expo Idaho: carved wooden blocks with leaves, plants, birds, and even a horse (a fitting nod to the former Les Bois Park racetrack site), a climbing wall, swings, and a rope net tucked under the trees.

Nothing was a second thought at Ada County's Park at Expo Idaho, not even the restrooms. This curved, board-formed concrete structure sits right near the Skate Garden, wrapped in warm wood paneling on the inside.

Look close at the edges and you'll spot a metal band built right into the concrete, a small detail that makes this spot skateable too. 🛹

Little touches like that are all over the park, proof that form and function didn't have to be separate decisions here.
